After a while

"I left you the sketches on the table, Evelyn." I said as I grabbed my bag, heading out for something to eat and some coffee.

"That's great, thank you," she murmured from across the room, and I could feel the stress from her voice.

"Wow, God. This looks amazing, Evy!" I said right away as I saw the dress she made, where she was still applying the rocks to the bodice, making a ball gown that looked exactly like a princess one.

"I feel like there's something missing, but I have no idea what." she said, taking a few steps back to analyze the dress.

"I think it's perfect." I told her.

"Where are you going?" she asked, noticing I was ready to leave.

"To get you something to eat and coffee, then I have to go and pack." I said, staying next to the door.

"But we have to meet with that client, she specifically asked for you to talk about the dress's silhouette." Evelyn said, stressed.

"Fuck, I forgot about that." I whispered, leaving my bag on the table.

"It's not gonna take long. She should be here in an hour or so." she said, sighing.

"Yeah, don't worry. I can make it." I said, going out.

Pedri broke his arm a few days ago and he can't participate in many team activities, and he gets bored easily if I bring him to the atelier. We decided to go somewhere for a few days, more like I insisted on it so I could make him forget for at least a bit about this thing.

Ariana:
Babyyyyy
Give me two hours and I'll be home
I'm so sorry, I forgot that I have a meeting with a client

Pedri:
Don't worry, love
There's no rush
We have a lot of time to get ready

Ariana:
I just miss you a lot besides that

Pedri:
I miss you too
But we have a lot of time to spend together

Ariana:
You're right, babe
I gotta go, I have to go back👹

Pedri:
🤣🤣
Take care, angel

Ariana:
You too❤️

"Thank you, thank you, thank you!" Evelyn said, helping me with all the bags, grabbing her coffee too.

"Don't worry." I simply said, thinking about Pedri and how he is alone at home, not in his best shape, and I'm here in no mood for work.

"Hey, I'm sorry. If it wasn't for the client, I wouldn't keep you here." Evelyn continued, noticing my face.

"Yeah, I know. I just hope she will get there soon." I said, looking through the window at the view outside, watching the whole city moving around.

As I needed for my time here to pass quickly, I went through other designs I drew over time and I redid some of them. Besides working with Evelyn most of the time, she connected me with another designer who simply fell in love with my creations only from the bridal dresses, so he wanted to give me a chance for regular clothes aswell, as he put me in charge of creating his dresses too, which he might just readjust where needed.

"She's here!" Evelyn said, as she was checking her phone.

"Alright, let's get it done." I said, still with my mind wandering away.

"Hi!" this girl said, greeting each one of us as she stepped inside. "I'm Emma, nice to meet you." she continued, having a bright smile on her face.

"So glad to finally meet you, Emma. I'm Evelyn, and this is Ariana. We are so happy to be a part of this beautiful chapter in your life." Evelyn said, as she was convinced I barely had any mood for talking and putting on a show like that.

"I saw your dresses everywhere; on TV, in magazines, online, I saw my friends wearing them and I needed to get mine from you. You're simply creating magic and everyone looks amazing in their dresses!" Emma said, looking around at our catalog and what Evelyn was creating in the other room.

"So, what do you have in mind?" I asked her, guiding her to the table where I could make a sketch of her idea.

"I can't stop thinking about Hailey's dress, I fell in love ever since their wedding back then in 2019 with that dress." Emma said, scared a bit of our possible reaction.

"Hmmm, I think the design could work well on you, too." I said, putting the dress on paper.

"But I want something unique aswell, you know?" she continued, as I was simply nodding at first.

"Of course, we wouldn't give you a ripoff from her dress." I said, continuing drawing. "What do you think of the sleeves?" I continued, showing her a similar body silhouette with the bell sleeves.

"This but with a simple, almost transparent fabric, the corset with some details, while the skirt falls down on your body with the same fabric as the sleeves; what do you think?" Evelyn completed, as we both noticed Emma was happy with our concept.

"This already looks fantastic! What would you apply on the corset?" she asked.

"I would go for a transparent fabric, that has some details great for coverage, so it could work well with the rest of the dress." Evelyn said.

"I agree." I got to say before being interrupted by my phone buzzing.

Pedri:
Please don't be mad at me

Ariana:
??What do you mean

Pedri:
I kind of forced my arm as I was around the house

Ariana:
Jesus Christ
What happened?

Pedri:
Can you come home?

Ariana:
What the fuck, Pedri
Of course I'll come
But why can't you understand some things

Pedri:
🙁
I'm sorry
I'm not used to this kind of injury and I thought I'd be fine

Ariana:
I'll be at home as soon as possible

"You have to excuse me, my fiancé needs me at home, he can't take care of himself properly I see." I said, looking at them both, being worried.

"Don't worry, we can reschedule." Emma offered to say.

"I'm pretty sure my job is done here anyway, and Evelyn can replace me too." I said, getting ready.

"We will keep in touch, so there's no need to worry." Evelyn continued, trying to convince Emma that things are alright in any scenario.

"I'll see you soon!" I said, rushing outside to go back home to Pedri, even though leaving a new client like that might not be the best move, but he comes first no matter what.
