Nick's POV

The next morning, I wake up and get myself ready for school. I'm really glad that I've finally told Charlie about my panic attacks, but at the same time, I can't help but worry that he might start thinking it's his fault.

I'm sort of in a hurry this morning as today, I'm going to try and talk to Tao and Isaac about what's going on between them. As much as I don't want to pry, it's obvious that their fighting is causing Charlie stress.

I rush downstairs and grab a granola bar before grabbing my bookbag and heading out the door without a word to my aunt. I walk down the street, determined to figure out what's going on.

Tao and Isaac are two people that I've grown surprisingly close with. Isaac, I'm not really that surprised by, but Tao, that one shocks me a little. At first, he hated me. He doesn't like to admit that, but he did. I know he was just scared that I'd hurt Charlie, but now that he knows me and knows how much I love Charlie, he's warmed up to me.

I pull out my phone and send a quick text to Tao and Isaac separately. I'm hoping that by doing this, they're gonna be more inclined to actually meet up so we can figure this whole situation out. I tell Tao to meet me at the school gate and I tell Isaac to meet me inside, by his locker.

When I get to the school gate, Tao is standing there, looking down at his phone. I quickly walk up to him and grab his arm.

"I- Nick, where are we going?" He asks as I start dragging him inside. "Nick, slow down. You know I can't run." He complains. I'm not even running, which makes me laugh a bit, but this isn't the time to be laughing. When we walk into the school, I see Isaac standing by his locker. I walk up and grab his arm too, dragging both of them.

"Nick, where are you taking us?" Isaac asks. I look around and see an art room supply closet. I quickly walk in there, dragging Tao and Isaac along with me. When we're in the room, I shut the door and turn to face them.

"None of us are going anywhere until you figure out whatever the hell is going on between you two." I say, a little out of breath from fast walking down the hall.

"I really don't have time-" Isaac starts, but I interrupt him.

"I don't care. Look, you guys fighting is causing Charlie a lot of...stress... and I just want to try and make him feel better and that starts with you two. So start talking." I cross my arms over my chest, standing in front of the door so neither of them can leave.

"He's just been getting angry with me any time I bring up Elle. Even when I don't talk about her, he's still pissed with me, like my existence is annoying for him." Tao starts.

"That's not true!" Isaac shouts.

"Well clearly, it is. Look at you right now, you're pissed off with me again and I don't even know what I did."

"It's not all about you, Tao. Not everything in the universe revolves around you."

"See?" Tao gestures to Isaac, looking right at me. I take a deep breath.

"Okay, when did all the fighting between you two start? Maybe we can go back to that and figure all of this out."

"It was on your birthday." Tao admits. "We started fighting on your birthday." I look at him, confused.

"Wait, but-"

"It was more like snarky remarks that Isaac started making-"

"It wasn't just me." Isaac interjects. "You were making really awful comments to me too that day. I just got sick of being a punching bag."
