Mia's POV

Returning to my own house after everything felt strange. The silence was overwhelming, and I couldn't shake the emptiness that came with Marcus being gone. Every corner of my home reminded me of him-his reassuring voice, his protective gaze, the way he'd always step between me and danger.

I tried to focus on my daily routine, but it felt meaningless. Nights were the worst. I would lie awake, staring at the ceiling, wondering if he was okay. Was he safe? Did he miss me like I missed him?

Some days, I'd pick up my phone, staring at his number, wishing I could hear his voice just once. But I knew I couldn't. All I could do was whisper into the emptiness, "Marcus, please come back soon."

Marcus's POV

Prison was nothing compared to the pain of being away from Mia. Every night, as I lay on the hard bed, her face was all I could see. I missed her warmth, her kindness, the way she made me feel like I was worth saving.

The thought of her alone, unprotected, haunted me. I hated that I wasn't there to keep her safe. Did she even think about me? Or had she moved on, finding peace in a world without me?

I wrote her letters, but I never sent them. I didn't want to burden her with my feelings. Instead, I poured everything into those pages, hoping she'd somehow know how much I cared.

Mia's POV

I couldn't stay away for long. One day, I visited him, nervous but determined to see him. When I finally saw him behind that glass wall, my heart broke. He looked tired, worn down, but when his eyes met mine, there was still that spark-the one that always made me feel safe.

"Mia," he said softly, his voice cracking. "Why did you come?"

"I couldn't stay away," I replied, my voice trembling. "I had to make sure you're okay."

He smiled faintly, but I could see the sadness in his eyes. "I'm fine, Mia. Just... don't waste your time worrying about me."

Tears welled up, but I held them back. "I'll wait for you, Marcus. No matter how long it takes."

Marcus's POV

Her visit stayed with me long after she left. Seeing her gave me strength, but it also broke me. I didn't deserve her loyalty. But deep down, I knew she was the reason I could make it through these two years.
