After finishing dinner, Sailub’s parents rushed to the hospital.
Three hours later, Pon’s parents also hurriedly drove to the hospital.
The four adults grabbed Pon and looked him up and down. They only relaxed when they confirmed that he was indeed fine.
Pon leaned inside Sailub’s arms, eating an apple that he had peeled for him.
He looked at his own mother and grumbled, “How could the hospital where I was born be so unreliable? They couldn’t even detect whether I was a beta or omega.”
His mother smacked him and said, “Don’t blame the hospital. Before your presentation, even the detectors couldn’t determine that you weren’t a beta.”
Speaking of this, Pon’s gaze shifted to Sailub. He remembered earlier downstairs when the doctor had also tested Sailub with a detector.
He nudged Sailub and asked, “Is it possible that you’re actually an alpha, but you just seem like a beta because you haven’t presented yet?”
Sailub scoffed, “Do you think this is a supermarket clearance sale? Buy one, get one free? Events like presenting at seventeen are rare. There might not even be one among fifty thousand people, so how could there be two at the same time?”
Pon let out an “Oh”, then patted Sailub’s hand, “That’s fine too. If you were an alpha, I wouldn’t be able to lie in your arms like this. We would definitely be caught by the school and accused of puppy love.”
It would’ve been fine if he didn’t speak. But now that he did, his mother smacked him again. “So you do know? Get off Lil Sai quickly. How can you be so shameless when you’re only four months younger than him?”
Pon refused, clinging to Sailub with all his limbs. “Sai doesn’t mind, Ms. Sammy, don’t cause split-ups.”
Sammy was so angry with her troublesome son that she wanted to roll her eyes.
Sailub’s mother, Mikaela, on the other hand, had a beaming smile on her face.
She and Sammy had been childhood friends, and she saw Pon as almost half her own son.
“In fact, when Lil Pon wasn’t born yet, we all thought he would definitely be an omega. Since I was also pregnant at the time, we even jokingly talked about arranging a childhood betrothal,” Mikaela said.
Pon and Sailub both had unbearable looks on their faces. This was something they had both known for a long time.
“Auntie, childhood betrothals are too old-fashioned,” Pon complained, “Besides, look at me and Sai. We’ve grown up together, but there hasn’t been a spark between us. Going out together to pick up girls might be more like it.”
Sailub scoffed, “You shouldn’t even think about picking up girls now. It’s more like girls picking you up.”
Pon fell silent, wearing a face of having nothing to live for.
Sammy flicked her son’s forehead lightly. “Don’t keep thinking about puppy love all day long. Do you not see your mother standing here? You’re already in your second year of high school. Put more effort into your studies. Even if you become an omega, I won’t beat you less.”
Pon thought to himself, well first, you have to have the time to come back to beat me.
His parents are so busy every day that they can’t keep their feet off the ground. They couldn’t even see each other once a month, let alone find a time to beat him.
But he only thought to himself and didn’t say it. He lazily responded, “Got it, Ms. Sammy, you’re truly a fighter for gender equality, treating beta and omega the same.”
