The summer break arrived faster than everyone expected, and time in high school seemed like it was accelerated, with two months passing in the blink of an eye.
The students changed out of their spring uniforms and put on their summer ones.
The deep red ties were replaced with refreshing blue ones.
The campus’s wutong trees became lush, and the lotus flowers in the pond had just emerged.
Final exams were approaching.
Sailub and Pon, one ranked first in the grade, the other fourth.
Their performance was steady, and neither of them faltered.
Noeul, looking at the two of them, felt both pleased and a headache coming on.
He was pleased that their grades were excellent, but had a headache because they both only completed half of their homework.
They constantly pushed the limits of his patience as a teacher.
Just a few days after the final exam results were announced, Pon was taken onto the bus heading towards the training base.
Sailub was being watched by Noeul, attending makeup classes with the rest of the students.
He couldn’t come to see Pon off.
Pon stretched his neck to look towards the school gate but could only sigh and board the bus with his suitcase.
It was now noon, and the sunlight was scorching. Even with the bus curtains drawn, he could still feel a burning sensation on his face.
Pon closed his eyes, seemingly resting, but in reality, his mind was filled with thoughts of Sailub.
He still wore the necklace Sailub had given him— a black seashell with gold inlay. It rested against his skin, cool and soothing.
Last night, out of their families’ sight, he and Sailub hid in the room, kissing recklessly.
As Sailub nibbled on his ear and asked softly, “Since you’ll be staying out for over a month, are you going to draw pictures for me again?”
During these two months, Sailub would occasionally bring up old scores.
Pon was breathless from the kisses, yet he still stubbornly retorted, “I will, not only that, I’ll even frame it after I finish, and won’t let you see it.”
Sailub stifled a laugh, he had no real intention of settling scores with Pon.
When he returned, he had discovered the other drawings Pon had hidden away, and he could now appreciate them with a calm heart.
Besides, Pon wouldn't be able to flip the world around on the bed either way.
However, when it was finally time to part ways, he left a temporary mark on the back of Pon's neck.
"I'll wait for you to come back," he whispered.
Pon raised his hand and touched the back of his neck, where a white blocking patch was attached, but as his fingers traced over it, it was as if he could still feel the warmth from yesterday.
Upon arriving at the training base, Pon found that it was much better than he had anticipated, though it was still remote and desolate.
The dormitories were still two people per room, and the art studio was located at the front, separated by a small artificial lake and a corridor.
The signal in the studio was indeed as terrible as the legends, but surprisingly, the Wi-Fi in the dormitory wasn’t bad at all.
For the first time in his life, Pon was assigned an omega roommate, one named Aonn K.. Aonn was a oblong-faced, fair-skinned boy with big, round eyes. He looked a bit cute.
