Pon was caught off guard as Sailub almost kissed his ear.
He covered his ear, almost about to retreat three steps, but when he saw Sailub’s calm face, as if it was the most normal thing to do, he felt that he was overreacting.
He forcibly halted his retreating steps.
“You suddenly leaned over and startled me,” he muttered, unable to look at Sailub for some reason.
Sailub didn’t say anything, he just smiled and took a sip of the beer in his hand.
The beer was cold, but his heart was burning.
The fireworks lasted for twelve minutes.
Only when the last firework fell, turning into ashes and dissipating in the night sky, did the people in the square, streets, and alleys start moving, dispersing in all directions.
The people on the balconies around them had all gone back to their rooms.
Only their balcony had a row of heads leaning against the railing, still looking at the distant lights.
“Why don’t we just stay up all night and wait for the sunrise?” Lee Asre suggested.
“Sure,” Belle turned back, “I’ll check if there’s enough beer and drinks in the fridge. We can play cards all night.”
The others had no objections either, everyone was immersed in the joy of the New Year.
Although nothing particularly special happened, the combination of the new year, fireworks, and friends by their side could always make people feel joyful.
Pon was also willing to stay up all night, but when he looked at the money he had stolen to spend and calculated his remaining pocket money, he graciously declined.
“Sai, you go play and annihilate them,” Pon patted Sailub’s shoulder.
The others protested, “Damn, Pon, can you be more humane? You’re not participating yourself, but you had to send out a killer.”
Danielle had never played cards with Sailub, and she curiously looked over to ask others, “Is Sailub very skilled?”
Lee Asre looked at his girlfriend with sadness in his eyes, “Last time, he won away two months’ worth of my pocket money within an hour.”
Danielle raised her beer bottle to Sailub in awe.
However, although this Danielle girl looked gentle and sweet when she smiled, when she entered the gambling scene, she showed a different side.
Among them, the only one who could match Sailub was her.
Lee Asre was also stunned.
“Wifey… when did you learn to gamble?”
Danielle still had that delicate and sweet look. She played cards with exceptional skills, and her face showed no emotions, making her a worthy opponent against Sailub, who always had a poker face.
Danielle laid down a straight flush with ease and casually said, “I started playing cards with my older siblings ever since I was six, and I won away all their candies.”
Luckily, after two hours of playing, Danielle couldn't resist the drowsiness and went back to her room to sleep.
Otherwise, apart from Sailub, everyone at the table would have lost so badly that it would cost them even their underwear.
But after she left, the sleepiness seemed to be contagious, and one after another, they all started yawning.
By the time it was three in the morning, those who had initially boasted about staying up all night were now sleeping in all sorts of positions on the sofa.
