After the exams on Friday, the whole class felt like birds released from a cage, briefly experiencing freedom.
The last exam they had just taken was Political Science, and not many students bothered to discuss the answers.
Instead, they chatted and made plans for where to go later.
A few classmates around Pon were already packing up their belongings, waiting for the bell to ring so they could head straight to the city center.
“What movie did you guys book?” Pon asked unclearly, with a milk-flavored lollipop in his mouth, leaving a shiny layer of sugar on his lips.
Belle didn’t even lift her head. “Apocalyptic Island, a zombie movie.”
“You guys really know to have fun. Watch a zombie apocalypse right after the exam. No love for peace at all,” Pon commented. Then he turned to Lee Asre. “I heard your girlfriend is coming too?”
A slight blush appeared on Lee Asre’s face. “Her school finished exams too, so I asked her to come. We’ll meet at the entrance of the cinema later.”
Seeing Lee Asre like that, Pon shook his head and sighed. “It’s already winter, yet you’re still acting like a cat in spring, so unruly.”
Lee Asre giggled but didn’t refute it.
Sailub remained silent beside them. Since finishing the exam, he had been feeling a bit dizzy, and his heart was beating unusually fast.
No one else noticed anything amiss because Sailub was generally not a talkative person.
Only Pon turned to him, reached out, and touched Sailub’s forehead, muttering, “What’s wrong? Are you feeling uncomfortable somewhere?”
But the temperature beneath his touch was perfectly normal.
It was quite strange actually. Pon could never be considered attentive, yet when Sailub appeared completely fine on the surface, not even a change in his complexion, Pon still had an instinctive suspicion that something wasn’t right with him.
Sailub took his hand away from his forehead but didn’t let go. He held it in his palm, gently caressing it.
“The air conditioning in the classroom was a bit stuffy earlier, felt a bit hot. But I’m fine now,” he said to Pon.
His fingers slipped into the gaps between Pon’s, clasping them tightly, while his thumb rubbed against the knuckles. “What do you want to eat later?”
Pon thought for a moment, then turned his head to discuss with Belle and the others. “What do you guys feel like eating? Barbecue? Grilled meat? Hotpot?”
He didn’t withdraw his hand from Sailub’s.
In the end, hotpot received all four votes.
And Sailub abstained. At the cinema, Pon and the others finally met Lee Asre’s girlfriend, a beautiful girl wearing a white fluffy coat and a red plaid skirt. She had long hair and a sweet smile, but seemed a bit shy.
Ever since Lee Asre saw his girlfriend, this big fool acted like a golden retriever, oozing with love and running around.
He even went to buy bubble tea for his girlfriend and bought one for everyone else too.
Belle held the bubble tea and was deeply touched. “I’ve known Lee for two years, and this is the first time I’m having bubble tea that he treated us to. That’s why they say love transforms people. Our child has grown up.”
Lee Asre, in front of his girlfriend, wanted to maintain his demeanor, so he couldn't be bothered with her.
He just cast a disdainful glance from the corner of his eye, full of a king's contempt, and said, "What would a single dog like you understand?"
