The sun wasn't what woke me up this morning; it was the feeling of multiple kisses trailing up my arm and neck—far more delightful.
The night hadn't ended early, to say the least, and it had even carried on into the shower this morning.
Now, I was standing in the kitchen, cutting up some fruit while Lando finished getting ready.
"Oh, look who it is," Max said, strolling into the kitchen with a mischievous grin. He slid onto one of the barstools at the island, propping his elbows on the counter and watching me with a smirk.
"You two are animals," he groaned, his tone a mix of exasperation and amusement. I felt my cheeks flush as I realized he must have been home all night.
"Sorry..." I mumbled, making a sheepish face.
Max leaned forward, his gaze fixed on me with a raised eyebrow. "I take it the date went well?" he asked, reaching for a piece of fruit from the bowl. I nudged the bowl closer to him, a silent invitation to help himself.
"It was lovely. Look!" I said, showing him the bracelet Lando had given me.
"He's such a simp," Max chuckled, shaking his head as he popped the fruit into his mouth. His eyes twinkled with playful disbelief.
"Well, he better be since he's my boyfriend," I replied, smirking at Max.
"No way he actually asked," Max said, clearly astonished. "I really thought he'd chicken out." He shook his head, tossing another berry into his mouth. Just then, Lando came up from behind me, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his head on my shoulder.
"You have to have more faith in me, mate," Lando said, looking at Max with a playful glint in his eye.
"I'll give it to you this one time," Max replied, making a dramatic, disgusted face as he watched the display of affection. His eyes still sparkled with amusement, though.
"Now we can finally have double dates," Lando said, looking at Max with excitement.
"Aww, no more third-wheeling," Max teased, laughing heartily as he leaned back on his stool.
"Where's Pietra?" I asked, glancing up at Max while tossing a few more fruit slices into the bowl.
"She's in Portugal shooting for a swimsuit company. She'll be back the day before you leave, though, so you'll get to meet her then," he said. I nodded, excited to finally meet her.
"Okay, you guys can have your boy talk. I have to hop on some calls. Lan, can I use your office?" I said, turning to face him.
"Yeah, go for it. I have to train with Jon, so I'll text you when I'm on my way home," he said, giving me a quick peck.
"What, you didn't get enough cardio in?" I teased, laughing as I headed towards the hallway. I glanced back to see Lando's cheeks reddening and Max chuckling.

"Oh, look who it is," my manager gawked as soon as I entered the Zoom meeting. Her eyes widened, and she leaned back in her chair, clearly taken aback.
"Hi Mandy, how are you?" I asked, bracing myself for the inevitable scolding.
"Other than you running off to Monaco and causing the internet to freak out about it, I'm actually very well, thank you for asking," she said, her tone tinged with a hint of annoyance.
"I know, I know. I'm sorry, but it was necessary. And you'll be pleased to hear that I'm no longer in my single phase," I said, trying to lighten the mood with a playful nod. The internet had a tendency to label me in less-than-flattering ways whenever I was single.
