WEEKS LATER.. (March 14th,2024)

This weekend was a no race weekend... which meant.... LANDO IS ON HIS WAY TO CHARLESTON!

The flight was 12 hours, so keeping my brain occupied since he texted me that he was on his flight has been impossible. The whole cast had this weekend and next weekend off, so we all planned on giving him the full experience.

I was in the studio, trying to work through some chord progressions. It's been six long months since my last release, and I'm itching to share new music. After three hours of tinkering with melodies, the clock neared 6 PM, which meant Lando only had two hours left of his flight. My own voice echoed in my head, a sure sign it was time to set this one aside for now.

I decided to tidy up the house—something I've done three times today, a futile attempt to distract myself. By the time I finished scrubbing the kitchen backsplash, it was past 7. I knew I should head out soon; the airport was almost an hour away, and I needed to grab some coffee on the way. I had a feeling tonight wouldn't end with me going straight to bed.

--

The car ride was quick, but waiting for Lando's plane felt like an eternity. I fidgeted in my seat, my excitement building with every passing minute. Finally, when the plane was fully parked and they lowered the steps, I hopped out of my car, unable to contain my excitement. It had been nearly two months since my trip to Monaco, and I felt every bit of that time in my soul.

As soon as I laid eyes on him, my smile grew immensely. He was saying his goodbyes to the crew, but then he turned and spotted me. I watched his eyes light up, and he quickened his pace, a grin spreading across his face. My heart raced as I waited for him to reach the bottom of the stairs. The moment he was safely down, I ran to him, throwing my arms around him.

"Finally!" I exclaimed, burying my face in his shoulder. "Hey you"

"I missed you," he said, pulling back slightly to cup my face in his hands. His eyes sparkled with warmth as he leaned in and pressed a soft kiss on my lips.

"I missed you," I murmured, smiling against his lips.

He chuckled, brushing a strand of hair behind my ear and gleaming at me like I was the only thing that mattered in that moment.

"What's the plan for tonight?" he asked, his voice low and playful.

"Just us," I replied, my heart fluttering. "I figured we'd grab dinner and then whatever you have the energy for" I added with a wink.

"I got all the energy in the world" he teased, leaning in to steal another quick kiss.

"Good, because I got a triple-shot latte on the way here and feel like my heart is about to beat out of my chest," I replied, laughing. I grabbed his suitcase from him, which he found amusing, and tossed it in the trunk of my car.

"The Porsche looks even better in person," he said, admiring my newest purchase, a sleek Panamera in slate gray.

"She's cute," I said, closing the trunk with a satisfied grin. We settled into the car, and I could immediately tell Lando was uncomfortable in the passenger seat.

"I promise I'm a good driver," I said, laughing at his apprehension.

"This feels so wrong," he said, buckling his seatbelt like it was a life preserver.

"Hold on tight," I said, putting the car in drive and heading out of the airport. As we drove home, he filled me in on the preparations the team was making for the Australian GP next weekend. I let him listen to some of my rough drafts, hoping for feedback, but instead, he was more interested in hearing the drama that inspired them.
