Chapter 11

Nishtha

"Where am I?" I said, opening my eyes.
"Suniye!, she's okay!" Aai said.
Baba came and rushed to me, "Beta?"
"I'm fine... but where am I?"

I looked around and the flashbacks of everything hit. I was crying in the temple after Yuvaan left me on the road in the middle of heavy rain, but how did I end up here?

"How did I come here?"
"Your... Aaji brought you here." Aai said.
"Aaji?"
"She was in the temple for her bhajan when she saw you fainted on the ground. So she called the ambulance and we met you here."
"How did this happen beta?" Baba asked.

I'm not going to tell them the truth.
They'd be crushed.
"I... I dehydrated. I went to the temple while going home and then I don't know what happened. I'm sorry. It's my fault."
"How many times have I told you to drink enough water? Look what happened now? You know how much it was raining?! You're lucky. You had a 105 degree fever."
"I'm sorry Aai. I won't do this again."
"Okay stay there."
"My company covers my medical bill, don't worry about it." I teased slowly.
"Idiot!" Aai said, slowly slapping my hand.
"Neel, please inform her boss she can't come today, take her phone."

Neel walked away to let him know that I can't come.

I stayed laying down on the bed, with IV tubes sticking into my skin. I sighed.
This is all because of Yuvaan.
He hates me and I realized his hate knows no bounds. If he can leave me like this, I don't know what else he'll do. I have to leave that company.

I tried to get up but everything pulled me down.
"Ma'am, you can leave in another 5/6 hours, till your vitals get normal."
"Sure. Thank you." I smiled.
I asked Aai, "Can I have my laptop?"
"Are you mad? You want to work?"
"Your laptop isn't here." Baba said, "where is it?"
"What?!" I asked, alarmed.
Oh. I remembered. I must have left it in his car.
Ugh!
"Yeah... I left it in the office when I left."
"I'll get it for you if you want." Neel asked.
"Yes Neel, go, because she's going to be working from home for the rest of the week." Baba said.
"I don't even know why she's working when her contract starts on 1st. It's still 30th."
"Aai, I told you about the consultancy." 
"I know but still. Now keep quiet and sleep."
I smiled and nodded at Neel to go.

We got home by around 4pm. After everything, I was too tired to work but I checked my emails as Neel got my laptop back. I had gotten an invite to the official launch of the consultancy firm.
Well, at least the project went well.
"Neel?" I asked seeing Neel at the door.
"Di. Don't work there."
"What?"
"I know what happened to you. I know Yuvaan did this."
I got alert.
"What? No... he didn't."
"Di, the look on his face when he gave me your laptop today was evident enough to let me know that he's the reason you're in the hospital."
"What look?"
"Forget it. Di, you can't work here."
"I won't. I'm going to decline the consulting firm role and stick to data engineering at IBM."
"Di, you'll still be around him."
"I'm only around him because we have a joint merger, if I leave, why would I have to see him?"
"Because the joint merge will still exist and it'll still be at IBM at times?"
"I'll be in my own area na Neel, it's away from this." He didn't seem happy, "but, I will apply for more jobs parallely and leave when I can, okay?"
"Good."
I looked at the event RSVP.
"Are you going to go?" Neel asked.
"No. Of course not. If he'll be there then no, and, I'm not needed."
"You are needed. You're the main consultant."
"I'll just send a good pic of me!" I teased.
We laughed and then Neel left.

I walked out of my room and went to the hall where I saw Aai sitting and talking to a family.
"Hi." I greeted.
"This is my daughter." Aai said.
I noticed the environment.
Is she trying to set me up?! Hell no.
I pulled her away when Dad spoke.
"What are you doing?" I asked her.
"Beta, you're not getting any younger, please let me to this."
"I don't want to marry right now. Stop it."
"Beta please."
I was angry, "Mom. I'm telling you. I don't want to get married, now excuse me, I'm going to Ari's house."

I grabbed my phone and stormed off.
