Yuvaan

"Find me dirt on that woman right now and get it leaked in her husband's workplace." I said on call as I came downstairs to make chai, "I don't care how bad it is and I don't care who has to suffer, she needs to know the consequences of her actions. 24 hours. Find it."

I cut the call and walked into the hall where I saw Nishtha enter. She gave me a small smile and then went upstairs.
She wasn't looking at me.

That bastard woman made Nishtha more self conscious and insecure about herself and I can't wait till she begs for mercy. I need to know all there is that I can use as bait to ruin her because she tried to do the same to my wife.

I made chai for both of us and came to her room, where she was putting her stuff down.
I gave her the cup, "Don't change."

She looked at me, "Why? What happened?"
"We're going out. Come." I gave her my hand.

I noticed her look at my hand, then at me, and then watched her take my hand. I smiled.
She is comfortable with me now.

We reached downstairs and sat in the car after drinking our chai and I started driving.

"Where are we going?" Nishtha asked.
"To the gynecologist." I replied casually.

"What?!" She yelled, "Why? What more do you want to hear Yuvaan?!"
"Nishu, relax." I said holding her hand, "I know it's difficult for you, but try to trust me, it'll all make sense in literally 2 hours."
She sighed and turned to look outside.

We reached in front of the hospital and I led the way inside, she followed behind me quickly, her hand still holding mine. I saw her being very nervous so I rubbed my thumb on her palm as an effort to calm her down.

We got our token, got the number and then sat down as we waited for us to be called in.
"I don't understand why you're doing this." She said suddenly, "Can we leave?"
"I'm here to make you understand why we are doing this. Can I just ask you for one favor?"
"What?"
"Whatever the doctor asks, can you answer it honestly? Without worrying about what it might sound like or if it is about what I did."
She sighed, "Alright."

We got called 10 minutes later and we stepped in to the office.
"Good afternoon." I said and so did she.
"Afternoon! I'm Dr Sunita." She replied, "Sit." We sat down and she continued, "Okay so, why are we here today?"
"Dr, I think I spoke to you on call regarding my wife's condition, we spoke in the morning and you advised me to come here."
"Ah yes. Yuvaan?"
I nodded.

I saw Nishtha look at me in extreme confusion.

"Okay, so," the doctor said and looked at Nishu, "Your husband has told me about everything that you've faced and the medical impact it's had on you and your partial coma and its affect on your fertility." I saw her look at me and then at her and nod.
The doctor continued, "I want you to first of all be rest assured that you're not under any permanent damage. Yes, I agree that your cycle has been messed up and it was stay this way. It does get better but since yours happened at 21, when the body has a routine cycle already, then it's difficult for it to get back in routine. Plus, there are additional things like stress and emotional factors which also play a role."

She nodded.

"But I want you to know," then she looked at me, "and you as well Mr Yuvaan, that you both need not stay under the assumption that you can't have children."

Wait, what?

"What?" I asked the doctor.

"Yes!" She said, "I will be honest. It will be a little difficult for her to conceive, compared to regular women, because her eggs aren't coming out and getting fertilized normally, but there's no damage done to her fertility, so get that out of your heads."

I felt a little tear in my eye. It felt like an effort to fix the mental under confidence and insecurity that she was facing.

"So then, can we have children?" I asked her.

"Of course you can. Like I said, it'll just be a little difficult. Think of it this way, some couples try 3/4 times and get successful, you two might have to try 6/7 times. You still can have children, but you two just need to align with her cycle. The new cycle. There are cases that she can get pregnant even if you don't align, but it's rare, but I will send you a chart of the times she's ovulating. There's an app as well for this which is specific to those who have irregular cycles. This will help you keep track."

"Doctor..." Nishtha asked, "Will my medicines and this affect transfer or affect my children?"

"No. It won't. Your medicines just affected your cycle, not your eggs. You still have very healthy eggs, they're just not coming out of the ovaries as often as they would. Don't worry, this, or any of the medicines you've had, is not going to have any impact on the child or your pregnancy."

I felt her shoulders relax, mine did too. I felt happy. I knew she needed to hear this.

"Thank you so much doctor." I said, "Is there a cure to it?"

"Unfortunately there's no cure. Her system has changed that way and if you want to change it then it's going to involve a lot of heavy medication which might have severe consequences on other parts of her body, so usually we don't recommend it and neither do we support it."

"I see." I replied.

"Informally speaking, Nishtha," she looked at her, "you're perfectly fine. Infact you don't have to deal with periods for 12 months, you just have to deal with it for 3/4 per year. Lucky girl!"

Nishtha chuckled.

"Don't worry about your intimate life as well, no effect on it." She said and we both blushed," You can try for children normally, but if you'd like to know when exactly you'll be successful, then let me know before you start trying and I'll guide you. She will still have the 90% guarantee rate 4 times a year, which is more than enough for having children."

We nodded, "Thank you doctor. Just one more thing, what happens now?"

"What do you mean?"

"Like, how can she live with this?"

"Just like she did before she got this problem. It's not an obstruction. If anything, you might find it annoying when you two are trying for kids, you aren't right now so do whatever you want." She looked at Nishu, "There's no rules or restrictions in your life because of this, okay? You can still eat whatever, do whatever. What you do will not make your cycle come sooner or later, it's constant like this now."

Nishtha nodded, "Thank you."

"One last time, you two can have kids. So go and tell your families that, don't say that you can't have children." Dr Sunita smiled.

"Thank you doctor." We said and headed out.

Once we reached the car, I saw Nishtha sit and not talk at all. I kept the car in the parking and turned to her, "Nishu?"
She looked at me, "You knew this?"

"What?" I asked her, "No. I swear I didn't."

"Then why did you bring me here?" She asked.

"Nishtha, because, I wanted you to be confident with yourself. I don't want you to think that you are useless because you can't have kids. I might not have been to explain that to you but a gynec might have, someone who has seen these cases and would know how to break the news."

"How are you so... calm with me?"

"Nishtha, I damaged you so much, I can never change that, the least I can do is change your view of me so that when you hear my name you smile.... Not hide your face." I said, "I really didn't know about this. I'm happy to hear it though, aren't you?"

She smiled, "I am. Thank you, Yuvaan."

"You don't even have to deal with periods every month. I remember you used to hate it."
"I know. I still do." She chuckled.

I smiled too, "Let's go home?"
"No," she said.
"You want to go somewhere? I'll drop you."
"I do want to go somewhere."
"Where?"
"Marine Drive," She said, giving me a small smile, "with you."
I looked at her, "I'm honored ma'am."
