I squinted my eye slightly at the bright light, taking note of the aura of the AU.

...positive, but not overly so.  I could breathe fine here.

"So what do we do? "

The others summoned their weapons.  Dust's eye flashed slightly.  "We destroy.  In and out.  We can't bring the level of destruction Error can, but it's the fear we're after most of all.  You still got a hold on that bond with Dream?"

I checked then nodded.  "Easier than I thought, but yes, I still do."

"Good.  That...will give us time to...do what we need.  The...sudden negative surge to...come will alert Dream, but if we can...AU hop before they arrive, we...should be fine."

"Do what you guys know to do.  I'm sure my presence alone will scare a few people."

Horror grinned.  "Indeed..."

The group teleported away besides Cross.  He turned to me.  "My job usually consists of arson since that isn't a direct killing method and causes fear in and of itself.  But for now, I think it best I stick by you."

I nodded.  "Let's go."

We ran off into the nearby town, my tendrils lashing in the wind.  I was moving at a speed that would make most athletes jealous.  Not record-breaking, but fast enough.

There were already shrieks coming from the town, the aura of the AU shifting slightly.

Hopefully the trio knew how to handle themselves...

We skidded to a stop as a line of human guards stood in the way.  "Stay back, creature.  We WILL use force to make you leave!"  The supposed leader yelled.

I grinned nonchalantly.  "You seem to already be failing at your jobs considering the death occurring in this town."

One of the guards raised a crossbow...crossbow?...and shot it at me.  One of my tendrils snapped forward, catching it before it could hit me.

Cross stood slightly in front of me, brandishing his double blades.  "MOVE, HUMANS."

"We will do no such thing!  Attack!"

The guards yelled and charged at us.  There were about a dozen of them.

An instinct in the back of my mind appeared and it was like a wispy memory again.  Memories of me...no...Nightmare fighting.

I let the instinct take over, but not completely.  I didn't want to kill anyone.  More tendrils emerged from my back and lashed out, slashing at the guards like knives.

They wore strange armor.  Almost medieval in nature.  They stood no chance, though.

I dodged backwards as one of the guards slashed at me.  I caught the arm of another with a tendril and twisted, throwing him into the guard who first shot at me.  They collided and fell to the ground with a groan.

The leader came at me but had to dodge sideways to avoid a disarming slash from Cross.  He turned his attention to Cross and the two began fighting.  It was clear Cross was holding back his power.

Two other guards ganged up along with the leader on Cross and Cross picked up the pace, easily holding his own.

However, 4 of the other guards came at me, slashing.

I scowled as I dipped and ducked and weaved through their attacks.  I balled my hand into a fist and slammed it into the face of the nearest guard.

He stumbled back, his nose clearly broken.  I shook my hand out.  "I'd rather not have any further deaths than necessary.  BACK OFF."
