I entered the cabin casually as if I hadn't been missing forever and saw the squad sitting at the nearby table, anxiously whispering.
Cross was the one facing my direction, and I watched his eyelights grow wide. "Eclipse???"
The other two turned at a speed that probably should've caused whiplash as I grinned uneasily. "Hi. Yeah, it's me. Um...sorry for being missing so long."
"Sorry for----Eclipse, that is not something you should be apologizing for." Night said with disbelief.
"You just...left a note that ended up causing us serious alarm. But...Dream has been gone for as long as you...well, longer now, since you're back..."
"No, he's, uh...he's back. And...um, there's a lot to talk about."
"...clearly." Night replied quietly.
I went over to the table and sat down, telling them everything.
That took a while.
Once I finished, the squad looked further alarmed. Night spoke, sounding strained. "You...bonded...WILLINGLY with my brother??"
"Please please please tell me it's closed right now." Cross whined.
"...um."
"Eclipse, what the f***. He could portal here!"
"No, I know that, but I...it's just...I trust he won't. He seems to get the severity of this all and Night's capture would jeopardize everything! You don't even have to worry about after all this. I'll be breaking the bond with Dream and probably not coming back. Although this Mainframe may be an issue. We may have to do something about them after we stabilize my multiverse..."
Night looked so exasperated. "Eclipse, that is a lot of trust in someone who is literally the enemy."
"Well, look, you're the enemy to Dream, Dream is the enemy to you, I'm the enemy to my Dream, he's currently the enemy to me, everyone's an enemy to someone."
"...okay, touché." Cross relented.
"On another note, Dream has requested that I ask you to possibly not do anything for a few days so he can fix the positivity stuff? I'm assuming the balance is getting closer to equal than it ever has, but that's messing up the stability of this multiverse."
"You don't know that, though." Night said lightly.
I sighed. "We both know someone who could find out. I don't think Gradient can naturally sense other multiversal balances, but he can use his coding abilities to see what other balances are at...I think."
"That won't mess up anything for your multiverse, will it?"
"If Cryo tried coming through, it might, but like I mentioned, Gradient was briefly here."
Night nodded slightly. "If he could check, that'd...be appreciated."
I hummed, turning and tugging on Cryo's bond.
It took a few moments, but the portal opened, revealing Cryo and a sitting Gradient. Gradient looked a little tired.
"Hello, Eclipse. Did you need Gradient? "
I grinned sheepishly. "Just briefly, although...are you okay, Gradient?"
Gradient also grinned. "I'm fine, just tired. Cryo put a little too much power into my soul, so I'm feeling powered-up in a tiring way. What did you need?"
"Are you able to check Dreamswap's balance?"
Gradient stretched and stood. "Sure. Lemme come through."
