We poofed into a universe, and my senses immediately told me it was neutral-positive.
Gradient whipped out a coding screen, tapping a few things. "UnderArena? A copy AU, at least...we seem to be outside...post-True Pacifist."
"I was, like, totes thinking this universe's 'no dying' gig would be all that and a bag of chips."
"A bag of----you know what, never mind." I relented, shaking my head.
"Don't we want the virus to die? Wouldn't this be counterproductive? "
"I can bypass the AU's code for that, Dad." Gradient said with a matter-of-fact tone.
"I'm guessing you can do it faster as it's a bit of a feat to bypass AU code myself."
Gradient nodded. "Perks of being a god-spawn and having Cryo's training and power."
Ink looked confused but refrained from asking questions.
"So I use the bond I have with Dream to bait him here, Ink and Error lock the AU, Gradient bypasses the 'no death' code, Fresh does his...Fresh thing, and we...extract the virus?" I listed, ending with a confused note. I wasn't sure how we did that last bit.
"Essentially. Although I will need to get at Dream to get to his soul. I'm heavily assuming that the virus rooted itself in his soul, and he definitely won't willingly pull it out for us if he's tearing apart AUs willy-nilly."
"Eclipse has totally got that covered. Chillax, bruh."
"I do??" I asked with alarm.
"This is the part where I say we really should've looked into your abilities, Eclipse, but...into the deep end instead."
I sighed heavily. "Great..."
"Alright, Dad, Papa, get ready to lock the AU." Gradient pulled up his own coding screen, looking to me. "Give us a countdown, Eclipse."
I took a deep breath, letting it out shakily. "Okay...okay. I'm baiting Dream in 3...2...1!"
I focused on the bond with Dream and tugged, trying to get his attention.
There was an overly harsh tug back that, had the bond been a physical one, would've yanked me forward.
Yet...there was a flicker of desperation I felt through it, as well.
"YOU MUST FEEL YOUR SINS CRAWLING ON YOUR BACKS."
I cringed at the voice, seeing a very messed up portal appear.
Out stepped...
...
Dream?
I...it was hard to tell. He kept...changing...glitching.
Bright golden wings with orange eyes. Halo'd crown, orange cloak.
Pale golden wings with pale golden eyes. Dreamswap Dream?
Liquid negativity from the eyes, then gone again.
An huge orange flowing fish tail, then gone.
A white cloak rimmed with gold. An emblem of a sun on his cheek. Gone again.
Purple. Gold. Tiny. Tall again.
Liquid negativity (toxic positivity?) tendrils. A lost left eye. Gone.
And every few glitches, I saw our Dream. Bright golden tears flowing downwards.
Then the glitches repeated.
