– I was a little bit afraid of our first meeting, it wasn't the way I had imagined it would be – he said after a while – besides Samuel was very skeptical about it. But – he smiled cheerfully – I guess it didn't go so bad.

– I'm sorry, I'm a little confused because of the accident.

– It's normal, you have a concussion – he agreed – you need rest, I'm on vacation, but I'll get you some rest right away.

– I do not want to be here, I do not want to be at home – sighing, looking at the flowers and the balloon – and if they cancel the ceremony, I do not know what I will do – breaking down, feeling her eyes start to burn, not wanting to cry. She had been trying to be strong for so long and this stupid accident had been the ruin of her plans.

– Don't worry now – he said quietly – use this time in the hospital, it's always a little peace from home.

She nodded and he could feel that Lea was relaxing. He was overjoyed, Samuel had prepared him to expect that the girl would not take well to seeing him. He had assured him that Lea did not like him and he had noticed that they were very much at odds with each other. She looked at him with such a piercing gaze, as if she wanted to look into the depths of his soul, and he liked it very much. She did not push his hand away, she held it, which was also a surprise to him, because it was not part of his plan. The only thing he wanted was for her not to get angry with Samuel.

– I'll get you some breakfast right away – Ned said, pulling her out of her reverie.

– Thank you – she smiled and brushed her hair back from her forehead.

Ned left the room and Samuel did not come back, which she took as a good sign. She had been under the impression that none of her family would be at the hospital, in order not to cause a fuss. It was enough for her presence to cause a heightened level of security on the ward and in the hospital. She remembered the car and the phone, and groaned as she lay back down on the pillow. She covered her face with her hands, feeling emotionally tired and drained of energy. The nurse came in with a tray of breakfast, placed it on the bedside table, and left the room without saying a word to her.

– I'm not going to feed you – she heard Samuel's voice as the man came into the room and sat down in the chair, playing with her pocket knife.

She let out a heavy sigh and slowly sat down on the bed and looked down at the tray of food. She got toast, scrambled eggs, a bowl of fruit, some vegetables, orange juice and tea. She'd been in this hospital so many times that the kitchen already had an idea of what to give her so there wouldn't be any trouble.

– I guess you're not going to give me the knife either? – she asked as she reached out for the bowl of fruit.

– Not really – he nodded.

She had to figure out how to get it back. It helped her a lot to get out of trouble.

– I don't know how you managed to wrap Ned around your little finger, but I am full of admiration for you.

– I haven't done anything – she admitted honestly, sipping at the tea she was drinking.

– I don't believe you – he said, narrowing his eyes suspiciously.

– I didn't know you had a brother, a twin. Do you think I want to wrap a copy of you around my finger when I see what you are? – she tasted the scrambled eggs.

– It sounds logical – he agreed after thinking for a moment – although I see how you look at him with those buttery eyes – he laughed – something doesn't add up here – she was about to answer him, but Ned entered the room carrying a drip.

– You weren't supposed to upset her like that.

– I'm not doing anything – Samuel put the penknife in his pocket.

– I'm going to put you on a new drip with vitamins, I'm a little worried about your eyes – he put the drip on the bed and sat down next to the girl – but first you should eat in peace.

– You're on vacation, you should have a rest – Samuel was in the beginning.

– Go and waste your oxygen somewhere else – Lea threw at him.

Ned laughed when he saw Samuel's face.

– I've got my eye on you, little one – Samuel got up from the chair and left the room. He didn't want to see Ned flirting with Lea, it was inappropriate for him, after all they were identical.

– He's impossible – Ned muttered – I apologize for his behavior, it's not usually his style.

– You know, my family could probably tell you the same thing about me – she said as she set down an empty plate of scrambled eggs and toast.

– I was talking to your family.

Lea looked at him with a look of surprise, her eyebrows raised in question.

– No wonder – he smiled – I would have had a word with you earlier, but you weren't part of the celebrations.

Lea looked down at her hands. Ned took them.

– Your family speaks about you with superlatives.

– They respect you – he continued – that's why they wanted you to take over.

– I won't do it – she said immediately.

– I understand – he nodded, smiling serenely – you have the right to decide your future and your family knows that, you just need to give them time to accept what you have decided.

– You tell them that – she smiled.

– I've already told them this – he smiled as well – but I'm happy to repeat it – he took her hand, looked at her veins, disinfected his hands and put on gloves.

He disinfected the site of the injection and efficiently put in an intravenous line and put in an injection.

– You are doing it in such an efficient way that I would never have told you that you were a doctor. I thought doctors weren't supposed to do things like that – she said in amazement as he secured her IV line in place with a band-aid and gauze.

– It's a nice change from difficult surgeries - he smiled, taking off his gloves – of course it's easiest to be a nurse, but I wanted to do it myself. Besides, I still have a vacation.

– You are supposed to be vacationing, not working.

– I couldn't have dreamt of a better vacation – he laughed, got out of bed and took the tray – can I bring you anything?

– Anything except Samuel – she replied.
