– No thanks – he answered calmly – I'm busy.
– Pity – said Letycja, obviously unhappy with what she had seen. She had thought that once she was appointed as the future queen, everyone would try to win her favor, she didn't understand why Ned had a preference for her sister and why they were making out, it was definitely against protocol.
– Have a good time – added Ned.
– Thank you – Letitia and her companions slowly left, although for a moment it looked like they wanted to stay and chaperone.
– She got angry, and furious – Lea muttered thoughtfully as she watched her sister leave.
– I noticed that – Ned smiled when he saw Lea's face.
– And you seemed so calm and composed to begin with.
– I am calm and collected – he replied in a resentful tone.
– You're a bigger weed than I am – she had a laugh.
He bared his teeth in a broad smile.
– Is that a sign that you're finally warming up to me, or is it a sign that you're in need of more time?
– What is it, do you have something else up your sleeve? - she asked in surprise.
– I'm not saying you don't – he started, but when he saw her face he didn't finish - so far you have nothing to complain about – he added.
– Well, I don't and that's what worries me.
– You worry too much – he laughed at the sight of her worried face.
– I don't like things happening over which I have no control.
– Of course you do – he tossed – if you didn't, you wouldn't be standing here with me.
– Well, I do have some influence over that.
– So what else do you have to worry about?
– I'm not sure.
– Can I give you a reason to be worried? – he asked, smiling mischievously.
She looked at him without understanding, he didn't stop laughing, which she didn't like very much in the current situation, because she had the feeling that he was planning something.
– Don't even try it – she started to see how he was reaching into his pocket.
– I'm trying – he said as he took a small box made of burgundy red suede leather out of his pocket.
He knelt down on one of his knees. Lea felt the blood drain out of her face. Why did all of them try to propose to her, where did they get the idea that she wanted to do it as well, but after a moment came a quick thought, if she accepted his proposal, she would be able to leave the palace.
– Lea – he began to try to put on a serious face - maybe we haven't known each other for very long, but what I felt for you from the first time I saw you until the moment I met you in person has confirmed my belief that I want to get to know you every day. When I see you, I have a feeling of being at home, a feeling of peace and joy. When you are not with me, I have the feeling that there is a lack of something, a lack of someone. You have stayed with me so far, which is mysterious to me, but it confirms how I feel about you, which continues to grow. Would you like to spend eternity with me? - He opened a box in which there was a silver ring with blue stones in it.
One of them, the one in the middle, was quite large, and around it were smaller and darker blue stones, arranged in groups of three. Lea didn't want to get married, she still held to that decision. She couldn't say if she felt anything for Ned, but she knew what accepting his proposal would give her. It would be a way out of the palace.
