Brians povThink Brian. Think. I was being protected by some warriors who remained with me. Some were in front of me, while others were behind. The witch that assaulted me cackled as she approached us. Her smoke returned to her body and no longer masked what was inside it. A pack of roughly 20-30 wolves emerged from the smoke. What can I do about this situation? I need to keep Crystal as safe as possible. "Give him control. Trust that he will help you." I winced again when I heard an angelic voice inside my mind. Who is this? "Give him control. Now, Brian!" I shouted, clutching my head between my hands, as the the command compelled my body to do so. My vision began to blur, and I collapsed to the ground, gripping my stomach and groaning in pain. He's taking control; this pain is awful. Make it quick, Alpha dude. I looked up and saw the witch smiling deviously at me. "Did you believe I was the only witch? Hm, little wolf?" She cackled again and swayed her palms, gently emitting smoke. "Oh, you sad thing. Another one is after your pretty little mate as we speak. You are so weak! A tiny puppy licking the foot of a so-called 'Goddess'." The word spilled out of her mouth as if it burned her tongue. She scoffed and raised her hand towards me. My eyes widened as I saw smoke approaching. It pushed, pulled, crushed, and destroyed everything in its path. Nothing is able to stop it.
I heard screams and shouts from the warriors surrounding me as the smoke began to strike. "I will show you true power! And after I finish with you, I'm going to join my comrade and go after your lovely queen." When she said that, something inside of me clicked. My body was filled with great anger. This wasn't just my rage. I closed my eyes and relaxed my entire body. "Do what you've got to do, Antares. Protect the love of my life. Please." I muttered as I sensed him approaching. "With pleasure." I felt him smile, and my vision turned black. Please protect her. That was the last thought I had before everything became silent.
Antares' POV
Ah, this is such an annoyance. Why do witches behave like this? So obsessed with obtaining power and a title. It's terribly sad. Regardless, they were created from wolves. Their forefathers were wolves who experimented with black magic, which was created by the goddess herself. The goddess forbade us from practicing such sorcery. She created it to bring back a former lover, but it didn't work well. She concealed the magic book because it could not be destroyed for some reason. Someone, of course, discovered it. It took years, but they accomplished it. They began utilizing it, and as a result, their children were cursed with black magic and were unable to be born with wolves. I groaned as I stood up from my position. The witch continued to assault those she attacked. I rolled my eyes and began going forward. Everyone is unaware that the goddess has bestowed power onto us. The circle. Not magic, but power. When the witches were born, the power within us began to awaken. Perhaps this was the reason. Everything has to be balanced. And when the witches get out of control, we have to deal with it. Yes, the goddess has no say in the witch society because they are a different breed, but it does not prevent me and the other members from enforcing justice. "Everyone who isn't injured get behind me. Now!" My command echoed over the entire forest.
The unharmed wolves hurried behind me, some carrying those that were injured. I glanced at the witch, who licked her teeth. "Mmmmm, I can smell the power emanating from you. It smells divine." She closed her eyes, and the smoke returned to her palms. "You must be the Wolf King. I would say it's nice to meet you, but I don't think—" Her remarks were cut short when I wrapped my hand around her throat. I was in front of her in an instant, and her eyes widened at me. "Wha- What?" She choked on her words as I squeezed tighter. "Shut up." I scoffed and threw her on the ground. She yelped in pain and scurried back a bit. "You have threatened my mate, surely you understand what follows." The back of my neck tingled as I felt someone carefully approach me. I sighed and flung my hand back, sending the wolf into a tree. "If you value your lives I suggest you go back to whatever hole you crawled out of." The rouges stared at each other, trying to decide what to do. "How dare you touch me you filthy creature!" Smoke wrapped around my neck, and I groaned as it tightened. I shouted in distress as something hot seeped into my veins. What is this? I heard a disgustingly loud giggle and looked at the witch. She smiled as she stood up. "Stand your ground, men! He can't hurt us anymore." I heard laughter and chuckles throughout the dense forest. I winced in pain as the hot liquid poured into me again. My body got incredibly weak and limp. What's happening? "Aww, you pitiful, miserable excuse for a king. Not so strong now are we handsome?" She approached me and ran a cold, damp finger over my face. I tried to reach for her but was prevented by the intensity of her smoke. "Tsk, tsk. Little wolf. You can't hurt me. I made certain of that." When I felt a sharp item enter my stomach, I shouted in pain.
"Wha-What have you done to me, witch!?" I looked down and noticed a captivating gold dagger protruding out of my stomach. "I promised I wouldn't kill you but that doesn't mean I can't have some fun." She pulled the dagger out of me, causing me to scream in pain once more. "This cannot kill you, but it can severely hurt you. I also cast a spell within my gorgeous smoke here. Wolfbanes smoke. However, this is not your typical wolfsbane. It's Aconite Wolfsbane." She smirked evilly as the knowledge dawned on my face. How did she get Aconite? It was all destroyed during the hundred year war. "Oh the look on your face is so delicious!" She drew me close to her then gently licked my face. I snarled in disgust. "You, of all people, should understand what that is. You almost died from it, correct? Back in 200 BC?" I grimaced in pain as I fought the force that was holding me back. Aconite is a rare yet deadly wolfsbane that can harm or kill any wolf. It can't kill the goddess but it can harm her. Back in my day, an evil dark witch used the black magic book to make it. She made it so that only her descendants could control it but it was all destroyed last I remember. How did she acquire some? Is she a descendant? The goddess must know of this immediately. "You must have a lot of questions huh little wolf?" She looked behind me and scoffed. "Looks like the fun is about to be ruined." I looked behind me and saw my guardians and some warriors running up to us. She kissed my cheek and gently seated me under a tree. I groaned as the smoke left my body. I'm still too feeble to actually do anything. This is not good. "I like you. I want you now, so you will be mine. Men! Let's get going! Our message was heard loud and clear!" She returned her gaze to me and knelt down. "I'll see you soon, my love. Don't worry, once I obtain your wolf, we can be together." She slowly kissed my lips, and I jerked my face away from her, disgusted. She cackled again before standing up. Her arms were extended as she pushed black smoke from her body to protect her men and herself.
A few seconds later, they had all disappeared. My body went slack, and I rolled onto my side. Still experiencing the affects of the Aconite. "Brian!" I heard everyone rush up to me, and my body was snatched. "N-Not Brian." I groaned out. "I apologize, King Antares. Are you hurt? What happened?" Dylan spoke while they examined my body. I mumbled faintly, and my eyes began to close gradually. "Aconite. T-They have Aconite."
