Kim Namjoon, the illegitimate son of late king Kim Taejon and the head of the Governors.
"I shall hear your opinion before announcing my decision." Taehyung commanded, his deep voice echoed and every governor nodded his head respectfully.
"Your majesty!" The head governor, Kim Namjoon, and the illegitimate son of the late king, stepped headed. He respectfully bowed, then beagn to speak. "As you can see that, the governors sitting at the left side, are the ones who believes that we should search for Roohyang and seek her help, and the governors at the right side of your majesty, are the ones who believes that this one decision could destroy the fate of Velaris." Namjoon explained.
Taehyung looked at the elderly men on either side of him. They all had white hair and long beards, signs of their advanced age. Most of them were well over sixty, having spent much of their lives serving and showing loyalty to his father.
Taehyung knew they likely shared the same opinions and beliefs as his father. The reason why half of them were convinced to approach Roohyang or her blood line was to bring the chaos. They all apparently accepted Taehyung as thier king, but in the depth of their hearts they believed Taehyung wasn't prepared for the huge responsibility. What made the situation further worst was Namjoon, the one who led the governors.
"What do you think about the situation?" Taehyung asked in calm voice, looking at his right.
"Your majesty! We all know how long Roohyang played with our innocent people unless we forbid her, what if she avenge us all.?" One of the governor expressed his concern.
"Roohyang already took her revenge, isn't she? The curse is her revenge, now it's time to make settlement and release our people from this massacre." Said the governor sitting in the left row.
"This not the solution!"
"This is the only solution."
"You all are being emotional."
"No, we're not being emotional, we're concerned about the people of Velaris, they're dying since years, even the late king couldn't beat that curse, the truth is we need Roohyang to break it."
" We would never let this happen."
Taehyung gripped the edges of his chair so tightly that his knuckles turned white. Anger surged through him, sharp and unforgiving, as the courtyard erupted into chaos.
He couldn't help but think back to the days when his father was alive and strong. Back then, no governor would dare to speak against or show any sign of disrespect.
However, now, it seemed like every governor had something to say, each more rebellious than the other. The respect for the king was gone, as Taehyung was too young and still unprepared for such situations .
Taehyung sighed, he realized that the only way to earn the respect was to become ruthless, someone who could make impulsive decisions without thinking about the consequences. "Everyone keep silence." He growled, his voice echoed against the walls.
The courtyard suddenly fell into the deep silence. The governors shifted their attention to Taehyung, as he stood up and walked down to the small stairs. Anger wandered over his face, a muscles in his jaw twisted, his both hands resting on his back, his chest falling and rising from the fast breathing. Despite being young, Taehyung still had the aura that could help him to earn the respect he deserved.
"So you believed that Roohyang could revenge us if we approach her." Said Taehyung, he freezed in front of the governors at right, that were against the decision of seeking her help.
"Yes, your majesty!" One of the governor answered, a wave of mockery washed over their faces as they locked eyes with another, assuming that Taehyung might grew weaker before them.
"Hmm!" Taehyung hummed only, he paused for a moment, raising the tension into the room. "Then you all can leave the courtyard, and you won't be able to join the debate unless you bring me a proper solution." He declared, his intense glare momentarily shifted on each governor, their eyes widened in utter bewilderment, the decision was unexpected and came as a surprise to everyone.
"Your majesty, are you...are you banning us from the courtyard?" One of the governor asked the question aggressively.
Taehyung glared at the old man standing at the last. Not just the old man appeared disappointed, but he seemed traumatized by the disrespect he just earned by the young king.
"Didn't I just clear now?" Taehyung returned the question. "Did I made a mistake? Or should I apologize from you all for banning you from the courtyard?"
The room fell into a deep silence for the next few moments, until the governor stood in front of Taehyung knelt down and spoke.
"No, your majesty! We're the ones should be apologetic for our nonchalant behavior." Said the old man bowing before him.
Taehyung exhaled a deep breath, he turned back and made himself stood at the center.
"I shall announced my decision now." Said Taehyung, his eyes fixed at Namjoon now, who besides all seemed the most disappointed. "Since the people and the late king had been failed to find a solution for this plague, therefore I've decided to find Roohyang and seek help from her." He announced in a subtle tone, "I shall travel myself to the North, to find Roohyang or anyone from her bloodline."
The governors realized that Taehyung perhaps seemed young but he was well trained, able to take such unexpected decisions in a conflicted situation.
Their heads bowed in front of him, Taehyung stepped closer to Namjoon, "Remember always look to the floor , or you'll loose everything you owned right now. " He whispered in his ears, then Taehyung headed towards the door.
