Party Stores

I find it odd how everyone has at least three luxury cars, knowing everything was walking distance here.

The party supplies store was no more than a twenty minute walk to and from the school.

If it was summer I'd have a problem but it's officially cooled down and dropped to the mid seventies.

Which I was entirely grateful for.

"I hope you were okay with coming with me."  Corey broke the brief silence that filled around us.

I narrowed my eyes, "What a fine time to ask, since we're halfway there," I pointed out.

She hummed, "Right," she replied, causing the silence to wrap around us once more.

"So..." I trailed off awkwardly. "Twenty-one questions?"

A slight smirk broke out on her face before a chuckle followed, "Twenty-one questions?" she reiterated.

A heat rose on my cheeks realizing how childish the suggestion sounded. "We don't have to— it's fine."

"No we could, I was just thrown off by the suggestion," she countered, but I still couldn't help but feel weird for asking.

I remained silent, dropping my gaze to my shoes feeling entirely embarrassed.

"If you were a really well known celebrity— like really known, what would you want to be famous for?" she suddenly asked, trying to break away from the awkwardness that formed.

I took a brief chance to think about it before responding, "Maybe architecture," I replied, hoping to pull her away from the fact that in my fairytale life I'm a model.

"So you like architecture? What about decorating?" she questioned.

I narrowed my eyes, "That's two questions, it's my turn," I pointed out. "What did you want to be ten years ago?"

"When I was eight I was really obsessed with technicians and evil scientists for some odd reason," she replied with a slight chuckle, "If you could eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?"

I hummed processing the question, "Probably my moms Picadillo, when she makes it for me and my dad I swear it lasts like three hours tops."

A small smile grew on her lips.

She was undeniably pretty.

"I would love when my mom cooked, she knew like every recipe ever created," she added.

I quietly nodded in agreement, contemplating my next words."You don't really talk about your parents often." I hesitantly pointed out, hoping that she'd give me insight.

But when a responde nor explanation never came, I awkwardly pursed my lips.

And when I noticed the double doors to the party store I realized I picked a bad time to bring it up.

She opened one of the doors for me before trailing in behind me.

I've been in this store for a few occasions and they had everything you could possibly imagine.

It was like the Ikea of party stores.

"We should have made a list," she said as we trailed down the aisles.

I picked up the Halloween themed streamers and placed them in the basket. "We really should have." I replied, continuing my path down the aisle.

"What do you think about these?" Corey asked. I averted my attention to what she was referring to before noticing her in a clown wig.
