Falling into Place

It felt as if my head began splitting as I listened to shoes squeak against the glossy gym floor for what felt like the thousandth time today.

I genuinely forgot how much I hate pacers.

We've been in school less than four days, and they're already making us do actual pe.

I wish the lie I told was actually true— cause I much rather be in Paris than doing this.

"Just one more girl," Chanel said from beside me as we made it to the line once more.

A sigh fell from my lips as the chime went off again, signaling for us to start running, "We have twenty five more left," I breathed out feeling entirely defeated.

As the repetitive ding went off the amount of people still participating dwindled. It was only me, Myles and few other students.

We still had ten left and my legs were on the verge of giving out.

Myles wrapped his arm around my shoulder, "Pretend like you're going to be rewarded a medium rare steak and wine with an olive in it once we finish," He said as we approached the line once again.

Before I could muster up a response we were running back to the center of the court.

"Why would I ever want a medium rare steak?" I breathed out as the sound went off once again.

I averted my attention to the bleachers as I noticed Chanel profusely waving in our direction.

Myles eagerly waved back with a smile on his face, "How are you not tired?" I questioned noticing he looked completely full of life.

"It's that medium rare steak, it's like the venom to my Bane," he said as we made it to the opposite line.

And when we finally finished I wobbled over to the bleachers feeling completely exhausted.

If this was a cartoon I'd probably have stars circling my head right now.

"Woohoo! You guys made it!" Chanel said scooting down the row to make room.

Myles briefly nodded, "Easy A already," he said sitting down, "You know I'm going to get all A's this year I swear,"

If I wasn't about to pass out I'd probably let out a chuckle at that.

Every semester he says he's going to get all A's and then two weeks in he decides that he'll just do it the following year or next semester.

I do hope that he actually follows through this time, since it's our senior year.

"You know what," Chanel placed a hand on his shoulder, "I believe in you Myles,"

He nodded a few times, "Thanks Chanel," he smiled, "How much do you want to complete the physics homework Mr. Newton assigned?"

A small smirk grew on my lips when Chanel shot him a narrowed look, but before I could respond I noticed the pe teacher in my peripheral.

"Mr. Johnson wants the three of you in this office, guess you're in trouble," he said motioning to us.

Feeling my heart physically drop along with my heavy breathing and already approaching headache it felt like my day got worse.

What if he found out about my dual enrollment, I mean I could get kicked out of this school.

This is everything my parents worked for, and I just threw it away for some senior revenge prank.

This can't be real.

"I'm sure it would be cool," Chanel said leaning past Myles to meet my eyes.

But I couldn't help but think what if it's not.
