"Where do you want to go?" Corey asked as we met up in the hallway after the bell rung.
I kept my gaze on the checkered floor before blankly shrugging.
"We could stay here or go somewhere else, just let me know," Corey added once again due to my lack of response.
I lifted my gaze, "It doesn't matter," I replied awkwardly.
I was totally butchering this right now.
She sucked in a deep breath, "Okay... let's go to the library then," she said before turning on her heel.
And I felt bad at the fact that she was trying and I wasn't reciprocating the effort.
I just... didn't know what to say.
Or how to feel.
We quietly walked to the library which had a few groups of people there for the after school tutoring.
And I have no idea why I didn't go to the library sooner, considering that it looked straight out of a renaissance painting along with the rows of books that seemed to span forever.
One thing I couldn't hate on, was the effort they put into everything at Richwood.
It quite literally fit it's name.
When we approached a table in the outskirts of the library, I pulled out a chair before sitting down and unzipping my backpack.
I pulled out a notebook and pencil and set it on the table waiting as Corey did the same.
"What did you want to work on?" she questioned as she flipped to a blank piece of paper.
I awkwardly pursed my lips, "Anything really," I replied.
I wasn't struggling with the math, but since they insisted that I needed to do tutoring then I guess that's what I have to do.
Sometimes I can't help but think how pointless this is.
"We could do what we learned in class today? Just review," she suggested, keeping her eyes on me.
I hummed, watching as she nodded in response and pulled out the worksheet from today.
But as she got the paper set out, a yawn inevitably escaped my lips.
"Tired?" she asked upon noticing the yawn.
I nodded, "Yeah it's been a rough couple weeks," I answered, writing my name on the paper.
She hummed in acknowledgment, "Yeah," she said flatly, "Let's get started on the first one."
"There's not much to review, I already know the material," I pointed out, obviously trying my best to avoid any unwanted interaction.
But she only stared at me in silence as I waited for a response. And the air had suddenly shifted from awkward to tense.
"Was it the kiss?"
Upon being completely caught off guard from her question a deep blush grew on my face in an instant.
"What?" I asked in complete confusion as I felt myself grow visibly hot.
"That's what all this is about right? The kiss?" she repeated once more, remaining completely serious.
I shook my head, "No..." I trailed off.
"So then what's going on between us? You're not texting me you're not talking to me, what is it that you want me to assume?" she continued.
And I furrowed my brows beginning to feel bad about all of this.
"Corey—"
"I've been wondering what's going on between us and each time I attempt to start something you shut me down completely," she added.
