[Luna's POV]

Darius stood there, a serious look on his face. I can't do this right now. Everything is changing too fast, and I don't know how to handle it. Before I could stop myself, my hands moved to slam the door, but it didn't close fully. Darius stopped it with his foot and pushed it open, stepping inside and shutting it behind him.

"Little wolf, that wasn't very nice," he said with a teasing smile, reaching out to touch me. I swatted his hand away and walked towards the couch. Here I am, standing with a stranger who feels deeply connected to me, yet somehow, he doesn't feel like a stranger at all. But I'm overwhelmed—my family lied to me. My mom and dad aren't who I thought they were. Even my brother, Trent, isn't who I thought he was.

My racing thoughts were interrupted by a gentle hand on my shoulder. Darius turned me to face him and pressed his forehead against mine. "Calm yourself, ma chérie. I can feel your worries down to my bones." I looked up at him, and suddenly, I felt calm. How? How does he have this effect on me?

"I don't understand. Who are you? Why is all of this happening?" I sighed softly.

"In due time, my darling. That's why I'm here—your brother called me." Darius responded, caressing my arms. His touch felt like fire, making it impossible to focus. I pushed his hand away. "I can't concentrate if you keep touching me like that. Can we just sit down and talk? With some distance between us?" I admitted, my cheeks flushing.

Darius nodded, smirking, before sitting a few seats away from me. "Unburden yourself, little wolf. Ask whatever you need."

"First things first—who are you? What do you mean by my brother called you? And why do I feel so close to you?" I blurted out in a rush, my face burning with embarrassment at the last question.

"I am Darius Orion Black, Alpha of the Bloodmoon Pack. My father, Marvolo Black, died in the war, and I was made Alpha at fifteen. I am your brother's Alpha—and your parents'." Darius answered, his expression serious.

"Alpha?" I asked.

Darius met my gaze and explained, "The leader of our kind—the descendants of werewolves. We don't live in the world you think we do, sweetheart. Now, let me finish answering your questions—no interrupting." He pinched my nose playfully. I swatted his hand, giving him a small smile and nodding.

"When I said your brother called me, I meant through the mind link. When my father died, I became Alpha, which means your brother's beta connection with the Alpha transferred to me. He's been in constant contact with me ever since. As for why you feel so close to me, ma chérie..." He paused, moving closer and brushing a strand of hair from my face, then leaned in to whisper softly in my ear, "It's because you're my mate."

[Darius' POV]

The moment the words left my lips—"You're my mate"—I felt the shift in the air between us. Luna froze, her breath catching, and I could hear the rapid thumping of her heart as it echoed in my ears. She didn't move, didn't speak, just stood there, wide-eyed and uncertain, processing what I had just revealed.

I knew this would overwhelm her. I had sensed her turmoil from the second I stepped into the room, her scent clouded with confusion, anxiety, and something else—fear. She had every reason to be afraid. Her world had been shattered, piece by piece, by the lies of the very people she thought she could trust. Her family. Her pack. Now I was adding more weight to her shoulders, but it was time she knew the truth.

I watched her, waiting for any sign of reaction. I expected anger or denial—hell, maybe even a little panic—but she just stood there, lost in thought. I could feel her emotions swirling through the bond. The moment I laid eyes on her, it was like a lightning bolt had struck me. She was mine. My mate. The one destined to stand beside me, to complete me in ways no one else could.

The bond between mates wasn't something to take lightly, and I could feel her resistance. She wasn't ready for this, for me. I took a deep breath, trying to calm the beast inside me that was growing impatient. It wanted to claim her, to make her understand that she was safe with me, that nothing could harm her as long as I was by her side. But I knew pushing her right now would only make things worse.

Patience, I reminded myself. She needs time.

I could see the questions forming behind her eyes, the silent battle raging in her mind. I wanted to hold her, comfort her, but I knew that wasn't what she needed right now. So I kept my distance, letting her absorb what I had just said.

"Darius..." Her voice was soft, almost fragile. "How... how is this possible? I don't understand."

I nodded, stepping back slightly, giving her the space she clearly needed. "It's a lot to take in, I know. But we were destined for each other, Luna. The moment I became Alpha, our fates were sealed. You may not understand it now, but soon you will feel it, just as I do."

She shook her head, confusion flickering in her eyes. "But... my family... they never told me anything about this. Why didn't they tell me?"

Because they were trying to protect you. But I knew that wasn't what she wanted to hear right now. She needed time to come to terms with her past, and I would make sure she got it.

I sighed softly, taking another step back. "They had their reasons. But I'm here now. I'll answer any questions you have, but I won't push you. You need to know that you're not alone in this, Luna. I'm here for you, always."

She looked up at me then, her gaze full of doubt and uncertainty, but there was something else in her eyes too—something unspoken that called to me. A flicker of trust. It was small, fragile, but it was there. I held onto that glimmer, knowing it was the start of something greater.

For now, I would wait. My little wolf would come to me in her own time. She just didn't know it yet.

[Luna's POV]

Wait, something didn't make sense. How could he be my mate if I was just... human? Panic bubbled up inside me as I tried to wrap my head around everything. "But I'm human... why would your mate be a human? You're an Alpha," I said, my voice laced with confusion.

Darius took my hand gently, his touch warm, but I couldn't focus on it. His next words shattered my thoughts. "You are not human, my little wolf."

I froze. I'm... not human? My mind spiraled. What the hell is going on?
