"BELOVED BY THE TWINS"
by: Dark Flame MasterJuri had just finished brushing her teeth feeling the weight of the long day on her shoulders. She was in her pajamas and ready to collapse into the bed but she couldn't because Shin was sleeping there. A few minutes have passed and she heard a soft shuffling outside her apartment. At first, she ignored it thinking it might just be her neighbors. However, the sound didn't go away and her curiosity got the better of her. She tiptoed to the door and peeked at the peephole of the door.
What she saw outside were the twins, Ruka and Luca. They were standing outside her door while talking in hushed voices. She couldn't make out what they were saying but it was clear they were up to something. Their identical faces looked serious which was strange because they were usually either teasing or making some sarcastic comments.
Before she could decide what to do the twins knocked on her door. Juri jumped slightly at the sound and then groaned softly.
Reluctantly, she opens the door just enough to poke her head out. She wasn't ready to let them in. "Um... which one of you is Ruka?" she asked suspiciously, her eyes darting between the two.
The twins exchanged glances, smirking but not saying a word. They were identical and even though Juri had met them a few times she didn't feel like playing their guessing game tonight.
"Then you can't enter," she declared firmly, pulling the door closer to her as if to shut it.
But the twins, being their usual selves didn't care much for Juri's attempts at authority. Both of them pointed at each other pretending to be Ruka. She could already feel a headache forming.
"Just tell me!" she demanded, growing more annoyed. "I don't want Ruka to come in because he's mean to me!" She pouted, trying to use guilt as her weapon.
Ruka, clearly not swayed by her words, grinned and reached out, placing his hand on top of her head as if she were a child. "Move it, shorty," he said casually, gently pushing her aside while Luca followed him in without protest.
"Hey! Remove your hand from my head!" Juri snapped, glaring at Ruka, but he simply ignored her. The twins walked into her apartment like they owned the place leaving Juri standing at the door.
She sighed, knowing there was no way to stop them now. "Fine, whatever. Make yourselves at home, I guess," she muttered, shutting the door behind her.
She watched as they casually strolled through her small apartment inspecting it like they were on some kind of mission."Where is he?" Luca asked, scanning the room.
Juri, realizing what they were looking for, rolled her eyes. "He's in my room, still sleeping," she said, sounding a bit more resigned now.
Without waiting for permission, the twins headed straight for her bedroom. Juri followed, already knowing what was about to happen. When they opened the door to her room they both froze in place. For a moment they didn't move or speak. They just stood there staring at the sight in front of them.
"What are you two doing? Why aren't you moving?" Juri asked, walking up behind them. She glanced over their shoulders to see what had them so focus.
On her bed, curled up under the blankets like a peaceful little ball was Shin. His soft and rhythmic breathing was the only sound in the room. His hair was slightly messy and his face was relaxed in sleep giving him an almost childlike innocence. It was a sweet and calm sight, if it weren't for the fact that the two men standing in front of her were both blushing like teenagers with their first crush.
Juri cringed, not quite sure how to handle the situation. "Ha! You two are hopeless," she muttered under her breath, feeling second-hand embarrassment. "I'm gonna wake him up."
Ruka was the first to snap out of it turning to Juri with a stern look. "No, wait, don't wake him up," he whispered, almost pleadingly.
Juri sighed deeply. "Ha! Fine, just hurry up already. Do what you came here to do and let me sleep," she said.
Luca, seemingly unfazed by the awkwardness pulled out his phone and crouched beside the bed. "Let me just take a few more pictures," he said, as if that was a completely normal thing to do. He took a few steps closer angling his phone to capture Shin's expression as he slept.
Juri was beyond done at this point. She placed her hand on her forehead and just stood there feeling a mix of frustration and disbelief. She couldn't believe how obsessed these two were with Shin. What baffled her even more was how Shin seemed so clueless about it all. He had no idea just how much the twins doted on him.
After a few more minutes of picture-taking the twins finally decided to wake Shin up. Luca gently shook him whispering his name.
"Hmnn... Luca?" Shin mumbled, his voice groggy with sleep. His eyelids fluttered open slowly, and he blinked a few times trying to adjust to the light in the room.
"So you're Ruka," Juri said pointedly, looking at the twin standing next to her. She is now confident she could tell them apart. Ruka just grinned at her not denying it.
"Let's go home," Ruka said, walking over to Shin and offering him a hand to help him out of bed.
"Home?" Shin repeated, sounding confused. His voice was still soft and tired and he looked around the room as if he didn't quite know where he was.
"Do you not know where you are?" Luca asked, amusement clear in his voice.
Shin's eyes widened in realization when he spotted Juri standing by the door. "Oh... yeah, I fell asleep here," he said, scratching his head and looking embarrassed. "Y-yeah, let's go home," he quickly added throwing the blankets off and swinging his legs over the edge of the bed.
But in his rush to stand up his legs gave way and he stumbled forward. Before he could hit the floor Luca was there catching him with ease.
"Careful," Luca said softly, steadying him.
"Bye-bye, Shin!" Juri called out from the doorway, waving as the three of them prepared to leave.
As they walked towards the front door something caught Ruka's eye. He paused for a moment and glanced at a picture frame sitting on a nearby shelf. Inside the frame was a photo of Juri and Ai. The two looked close in the picture smiling warmly at the camera.
Curiosity got the best of him and he bent down slightly leaning in towards Juri. "You love her?" he asked quietly, nodding towards the picture.
Juri blinked and caught off guard. "Huh? W..what are you talking about?" she said, her cheeks turning a light shade of pink.
"That girl... Ai, right? She's your ex?" Ruka pressed, his voice low and teasing but there was a hint of seriousness in his eyes.
Juri swallowed, feeling her heart skip a beat. "Wha- how do you know that?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Ruka simply grinned and tapped the side of his nose. "Secret," he said, his eyes glinting with mischief. Then his grin softened slightly. "But you still love her, right?"
Juri hesitated for a moment before giving a small and almost unnoticeable nod. She didn't have the energy to deny it. The truth was she did still have feelings for Ai even though their relationship had ended.
Ruka straightened up looking thoughtful for a moment. "I think she feels the same," he said quietly, his tone softer than usual. He gave her a small smile before turning to walk out the door leaving Juri standing there in stunned silence.
As they stepped outside, Luca glanced at his brother. He was curious about the exchange he had just witnessed. "What did you talk about with Juri?" he asked.
Ruka grinned, his usual teasing smile back in place. "Nothing important," he said, keeping the details to himself.
