CHAPTER 28

"BELOVED BY THE TWINS"

Shin sat quietly on the bench outside the hospital feeling a bit confused about everything that had happened earlier. Meeting Ai made him feel uneasy but instead of thinking about that he decided to focus on something simple. He decided to focus on what to cook for dinner.

Just then, he noticed a car pulling up in front of the hospital. It was Ruka and Luca who had come to pick him up. Ruka rolled down the window and called out, "SHIN!"

Luca simply waved for Shin to come closer.

As Shin got up and started walking toward the car, he suddenly heard someone running behind him. He turned around and saw a man running quickly toward the twins. The man looked rough and scary. He had tattoos all over his arms, piercings in his ears, and his blonde hair made him look like a gangster.

"RUKA, LUCA!" the man shouted, running right past Shin and heading straight for the twins.

Shin froze in place, confused and unsure of what to do. "Why is this guy yelling their names?," he wondered. He didn’t know who the man was but it was clear that the twins did. Still, Shin felt like he had to do something so he walked up to the car and stood in front of the window trying to block the man from getting too close.

“Who are you?” the man asked, glaring at Shin with a scary look in his eyes.

“That’s my question! Who are you?” Shin replied, though his voice trembled a bit.

The man’s glare made Shin feel even more nervous.Shin’s heart raced and he instinctively raised his hands to cover his head because he is afraid of what the man might do next.

"Move," the man said, his voice low and threatening.

“D-don’t hurt me,” Shin stuttered, still covering his head with his arms.

“Stop it,” Ruka said from inside the car, sounding a bit annoyed.

"Shin, this is Dr. Reid," Luca added calmly.

"Dr... Doctor?" Shin repeated, completely surprised.

The man who Shin had thought was a gangster was actually a doctor. He was even wearing a doctor's uniform though Shin hadn’t noticed it at first.

"Who is this kid?" Dr. Reid asked, looking at Shin like he was a bit confused too.

"That's Shin. Don’t scare him like that," Ruka said from inside the car.

“You really need to show more respect when you talk to people older than you,” Dr. Reid said to the twins. “You know I’m older, right?”

Ruka just shrugged and looks like he doesn't really care that much.

“W-wait... so you’re not a gangster?” Shin asked, feeling completely embarrassed.

"Pfft... HAHAHAHA," both Ruka and Luca burst into laughter.

"No, I’m not a gangster,” Dr. Reid said with a smile. “Do I really look that scary?"

Shin nodded, still a little shaken. He couldn’t believe that someone who looked like that could be a doctor.

“So, what do you need?” Ruka asked, getting back to the point.

Dr. Reid turned to the twins. “Oh, right. I just wanted to remind you two that you only have two weeks left for your internship. After that you can focus on your final reports. I don’t really care but I hope you two consider working here permanently.”
