"BELOVED BY THE TWINS"

SHIN'S POV

As I lay there, staring up at the ceiling, I muttered, "I didn't sleep a wink." My mind was a storm of thoughts and my tired eyes were the proof. Every time I closed them, images of Luca and Ruka from last night came rushing back. I couldn't shake the memory of what I saw. It left me with more questions than answers especially about their relationship. My head was so full of them that I almost forgot about the whole issue with their mom.

Trying to focus, I reached over to the nightstand and grabbed my phone. I decided to call my mom.

"Shin? What's wrong? It's early for you to call," Mom answered, sounding half-awake.

"Good morning, Mom. Do you... do you still have Mrs. Anna’s number?" I asked, feeling my nerves kicking in.

"Anna? Why would you need her number?" Mom asked, curiosity filling her voice.

"I... just want to talk to her," I said, feeling a little unsure myself.

"Well, I think I still have it. Not sure if it's the same number, though," she said thoughtfully.

"Could you send it to me?" I asked.

"Okay, dear. I'll text it to you in a second. And by the way, have you eaten breakfast?" she asked, switching to her usual concerned tone.

"Not yet,"

"Make sure to eat something, okay?"

"Alright. Make sure you eat too, Mom,"

Once our call ended, I got a message from her with Mrs. Anna’s number. Taking a deep breath, I tapped the dial hoping she'd answer.

Ring...

Ring...

Ring...

"Hello? Who’s this?" came a voice on the other end, kind yet unfamiliar. It sounded almost gentle, very different from the voice I’d heard at the hospital. It was as if she were a completely different person.

"...He-Hello," I stuttered, feeling nervous.

"Who are you?"

"It's... it’s Shin. My mom is Sera," I said, getting up to shake off my nerves.

"Oh! You're that kid. So, what do you want?" Her tone instantly shifted, sounding colder, like when I first met her.

"Do... do you have time to talk?" I asked, my voice barely holding steady.

After the call with Mrs. Anna, I decided it was time to ask Luca and Ruka directly about what I'd seen. If they were in a relationship, I wanted to know. Seeing them like that had made me feel more open about taking things further with them.

I left my room and headed to the kitchen to make breakfast. I decided on fried rice, nuggets, and mushroom soup, hoping the cooking would settle my nerves. The smell of food filled the room, making me feel a little more calm.

"It smells delicious"

Just then, I felt a pair of arms wrap around me from behind. A warm breath brushed my ear as a voice whispered, "But you're more delicious."

I jumped, covering my ears as I turned. "Wh— Luca?" I asked, my heart racing.

"Good morning, Shin," he replied, his voice thick with sleep.
