SHIN'S POV

A few hours passed, Mom and I decided it was time to head back to her room. The sun was starting to cast a warm golden light over the hospital grounds. I still felt a bit embarrassed though especially after the conversation we had. I mean, all this time Mom knew that Ruka and Luca wanted me to be their boyfriend. She even seemed fine with it which was such a relief. Now, I can confidently give them my answer without any worries. I smiled to myself, thankful that Mom is my mom. If I had a different mom, maybe things would’ve been harder. Maybe I would've even been disowned.

When we reached her room, she immediately sat on the edge of her bed and glanced at the clock on the wall.

"Shin, it's already 5 PM," she said, her voice soft but still filled with warmth.

I looked at her pretending to be sad. "Do you want me to leave, Mom?" I asked, pouting a little to tease her.

She laughed, shaking her head. "Why are you so cute, Shin? Come here." She motioned for me to come closer.

I raised an eyebrow, teasing her back. "I'm cute?"

"Yeah!" she said, smiling. "I mean, why else would Ruka and Luca fall in love with you if you're not cute?"

I laughed, feeling a little embarrassed again. To distract myself, I grabbed the plushie I won earlier at the arcade and showed it to her.

“They're cute, aren’t they?” I said, holding the plushie up.

She chuckled. “It looks like Ruka and Luca.”

I laughed with her. “Right? I thought the same thing when I saw it."

After a brief pause I turned to her and said, “Mom, thank you for today. I really had a great time.”

She immediately hid her face with her hands, laughing nervously. “Gosh, Shin! What are you saying? Its embarrassing”

Seeing her act all shy made me chuckle. It was moments like these that reminded me just how lucky I was to have her as my mom. She wasn’t just supportive, she also had this fun side to her that always lightened the mood.

“Oh, Shin, I almost forgot,” she said, suddenly looking a bit more serious. “I have another present for you.”

I blinked, surprised. “Another one? You already gave me this beautiful bracelet.”

She smiled softly. “Yes, but there’s one more. It’s in the drawer Open it.”

Curious, I opened the drawer near her bed and saw a rectangular box wrapped in green paper with a red ribbon. As I reached for it, she warned me, “Be careful it’s heavy.”

I paused. “Heavy? What is it?” I asked, glancing at her suspiciously.

She grinned. “Open it when you get home.”

I laughed at that. “You know, Juri also told me to open her gift when I got home. What’s with everyone and these secretive gifts?"

Mom laughed too. “Juri’s a funny kid. Always full of surprises."

I carefully lifted the box out of the drawer, and she wasn’t kidding—it really was heavy. “Mom, is this a bomb or something?” I asked, teasing her.

She chuckled. “No, silly! But… I’m not sure if you’ll like it. It’s actually a gift from one of the patients I became friends with, but I can’t drink it.”
