"BELOVED BY THE TWINS"
By: Dark Flame MasterSHIN'S POV
As I walked through the quiet hallways of the hospital looking for Ai, I suddenly felt a firm grip on my shoulder. My heart raced and I froze turning slowly to see a tall, serious figure standing behind me. My eyes widened as I recognized the person behind me.
"Dr. Reid?"
“So, you’re a high school student, right?” he asked, his voice deep but there was an edge to it that made me nervous.
I gulped, feeling my voice catch for a moment. “Y-Yeah, i-in my fourth year.”
Dr. Reid didn’t say anything right away. He just looked at me with a slightly raised brow. His stare was sharp, almost piercing, and it reminded me of the rumors I’d heard around the hospital. Rumors that he might be connected to the Yakuza. The thought made my stomach twist but then again, Dr. Reid hadn’t done anything bad to me before. In fact, the last time we met he gave me a lollipop which was… unexpected.
“Hey, kiddo, are you still scared of me?” he asked, a strange smile forming on his lips. “How could you? I’m hurt,” he added, holding his chest like he was genuinely offended.
I blinked, a little taken aback. He didn’t seem like the type to joke around and seeing a man almost in his thirties act like this was surprising. It made me think about the people around me. Was I just surrounded by adults with a childish side? Even the twins, Ruka and Luca, seemed so much younger in their behavior sometimes.
He leaned closer, narrowing his eyes playfully. “What are you grinning about?”
“Oh, um… nothing,” I said, feeling embarrassed. “Do you, uh, need something from me?”
He straightened up, his playful expression disappearing. “Yeah. Follow me,” he said, turning and walking down the hall toward a nearby room. I hesitated, wondering if I should follow him.
As I stepped into the room, my eyes looked around. The space was small, quiet, and oddly dark. My stomach tightened when I heard the door click shut behind me. I turned, seeing Dr. Reid’s tall figure standing in front of the door. His face was serious again and his presence felt heavy. Why did he lock the door? Was he really part of the Yakuza? Panic started to bubble up inside me.
“Sit down,” he ordered, his tone deep and commanding. I swallowed hard and slowly sat on the nearby chair watching his every move. He walked over to his desk, pulling open a drawer.
A wave of panic surged through me. Did he have a weapon in there? My mind raced, picturing all kinds of bad scenarios. Maybe he wasn’t as harmless as I’d thought. But then he turned back to me holding something in his hand.
“Here,”
“Huh?” I looked at it, confused.
“Lollipop. You don’t want it?” he asked, giving me a look that seemed both amused and annoyed. “I have a lot more sweets. Just tell me what you like.”
The tension I felt eased a bit and I laughed nervously. I reached out, taking the lollipop and unwrapping it, trying to calm down as I put it in my mouth. Maybe I’d let my imagination run wild.
He leaned back, crossing his arms. “You’re called Shin, right?”
“Y-YES!” I replied, my voice coming out louder than I meant it to.
Dr. Reid raised an eyebrow. “Calm down, would you? And lower your voice.”
“Oh, uh, sorry…” I mumbled, feeling my cheeks heat up in embarrassment.
