A/N 1: just a warning in advance, there will be a panic attack involved toward the middle of the story. There will be ⚠️ emojis with the words 'panic attack warning'. There will be more ⚠️ emojis again with the words 'panic attack over', signaling the end of the warning.
3rd POV:
"Susan and Davis here with breaking news. We were just informed by local police that there was a murder committed late last night."
"Authorities explained that the victim was a male in his early twenties. His family wishes for the victim's identity to remain anonymous, because they want to avoid being bombarded with questions about & reminders of the death of their loved one. The killer currently remains unknown, so make sure to be careful. Here are some tips to keep in mind."
The green screen turns on beside the reporters, revealing a list of tips on how to avoid being a victim.
"Don't go out in public alone, if you can help it. Make sure multiple safe people know your location if you have to leave your home. Most importantly, lock your homes. Every possible entrance to your home should be locked to reduce the chances of you being next."
The green screen turns off and the camera pans to the reporters again.
"That is correct, Susan. We will be updating as we figure out more about the situation. Stay safe, everyone. Now, back to your regularly scheduled program."

Y/N POV:
"–and then this man had the nerve to tell me to calm down. Like... Sir, aren't you the one that just finished ranting to me about how you're supposedly an 'alpha male' (gisbgow ew), and that I'm not worth your time because I'm not?"
"Seriously though, (best friend)! That guy needs to get off his power trip and realize that he's just a creep that likes to make other people feel like shit."
(Friend) & (best friend) continue on their rant about some guy (best friend) had the displeasure of interacting with at a nearby cafe a few days ago. I listen in on their conversation with the occasional nod & chuckle, (other friend) doing the same.
After a bit longer, though, I start getting bored of hearing about some creep calling my best friend a 'beta male' (e w .) for whatever reason. I decide to turn my attention to (other friend), who seems equally as bored as I am.
"Hey, (other friend)?"
"Hm?"
"What are your plans for this weekend?"
"Not much, really. I'm probably just gonna go to the Horrorfest tomorrow night."
The mention of 'Horrorfest' piques my interest immediately.
" 'Horrorfest'? What's that, (other friend)?"
"It's basically an event where you can get horror-themed food, watch a few bands perform, or do the haunted trails."
(Best friend) & (friend) immediately end their ranting to join in, (best friend) speaking up first.
"Oh yeah! (Friend) and I were planning on going, too! How about you come with us, Y/N?"
I stay quiet for a moment before shrugging, my tone uncertain.
"I dunno..."
"Come on, Y/N! It'll be fun!"
"Yeah, I heard that one local band you like is performing."
I shake my head, not liking the feeling I'm getting about the idea of going to this 'Horrorfest' event tomorrow night.
