Pendulum (slight angst + fluff)

A/N: y'all, prepare yourselves. This thing is over 8,000 words. It was actually supposed to be longer and have a lime section, but I didn't have the patience for that, so I cut that part out. I hope you all enjoy this mess.

Y/N POV:

"Thank you so much for tutoring me, (friend). This is gonna help me so much on the test on Monday."

"Not a problem at all, Y/N."

(Friend) and I leave our professor's classroom and walk into the hallway together. As I turn to go to the elevator, though, she goes to the stair case.

"(Friend)? Where are you going?"

"Down to the bottom floor to leave the building for the night. What are you doing?"

"I'm doing the same thing. Why are you going that way, though? The elevators are this way."

(Friend) nods and looks back at the stairway again before returning her focus to me.

"I know that, Y/N. I'm mainly worried about the elevator breaking down, though."

I look at (friend) with confusion at her sudden apprehension.

"What, are you afraid of elevators all of a sudden?"

"No. The elevators have just been breaking down a lot recently. The building is closing down soon, too, so if someone gets stuck in the elevator now, they'll be stuck overnight."

I scoff lightly at (friend)'s worry, shrugging it off.

"As long as I don't have to go down six flights of stairs just to get to the bottom floor, I don't care."

(Friend) looks at me with slight disbelief.

"So, you'd rather be stuck in an elevator for an entire night than go down six measly flights of stairs?"

I think for a second before nodding.

"Yep, pretty much."

(Friend) sighs to herself, annoyed, before walking toward the stair case again.

"Whatever, Y/N. Suit yourself. I'll see you tomorrow."

I wave to (friend) and go back to walking toward the elevators, excited to finally be able to go home after studying my ass off in a classroom for hours. Once I'm out of the hallway, I see C/N waiting on the elevator.

I'll be damned if I let him get in the elevator first.

C/N and I look at each other at the same time, both of us getting into a ready stance. The elevator opens, and we make a mad dash for the now-open elevator. I manage to get in first, but he pushes the button before I get the chance to. He smirks at me smugly before leaning on the elevator wall opposite of me, his expression turning back into its usual glare.

C/N looks me up and down judgementally, ticking me off in an instant. Before I can manage to get a word in, though, the elevator stops. He steps forward and presses the emergency button multiple times before eventually giving up. He sighs and turns to me with a grumble.

“Great, now I have to be stuck with you.”

I look at C/N with a mix of confusion and frustration at his judgemental expression.

"What? It's not like it's my fault the elevator stopped working."

C/N chuckles with a smirk.

"Well, who else could I possibly blame?"

He raises an eyebrow at me before glancing around the elevator, taking in the confined space. I slightly raise my eyebrows and huff under my breath in annoyance.
