Y/N POV:
"Where's C/N? He said he'd be here by now. Do you think he cancelled?"
"You know he's late to everything, Y/N."
"Yeah, but what if he isn't coming this time?"
I call C/N's phone, not wanting to tolerate a social event without my best friend again.
"I'm sure he is."
The phone eventually stops ringing, and C/N's voice sounds through the phone.
"Hey, I'm busy right now. I can't talk."
"Wait what?"
As if on cue, I hear the front door open & close. When I look up, I see none other than C/N standing in front of the door. He grins and waves at me as he hangs up the call.
"Miss me, Y/N?"
I return C/N's smile with one of my own, turning my phone off with a light chuckle.
"There you are. I was starting to think you weren't coming."
He plops down beside me on the couch, his arm wrapping around my shoulders.
"Always assuming the worst about me, aren't you?"
C/N playfully nudges my side, and I jokingly slightly nudge him back.
"It's not my fault you take forever to get places, C/N."
I try to make it obvious that I'm joking around, the smile on my face widening. He pouts exaggeratedly, leaning into my nudge before returning with another one of his own, his grin coming back.
"You know I'm always fashionably late."
I slightly raise an eyebrow teasingly at his excuse, my grin turning more mischievous.
"Who are you always trying to dress up for that makes it so you're constantly 'fashionably late'?"
C/N's face flushes slightly and he quickly looks away, a sheepish smile on his face.
"Shut up."
He incoherently mumbles with a chuckle, his arm still wrapped around me as I laugh and lean my head on his shoulder.
"Okay, okay. I give."
C/N smiles and rests his cheek on top of my head, his fingers absently playing with a strand of my hair.
"That's more like it. I missed this."
I hum quietly in content at the affection, my smile widening.
"I know we just saw each other last night, C/N, but I can't say I disagree."
He chuckles softly, his thumb gently caressing my cheek.
"Well, what can I say? I'm just that irresistible."
"Hey, lovebirds! We're about to play spin the bottle, so get your gay asses over here."
Knowing that 'lovebirds' is our nickname from our friend group, C/N & I turn to face (friend) in response.
"For the last time, (friend), we're straight."
(Other friend) looks both of us up & down skeptically before responding.
"Y'all sure don't act like it."
"We are definitely straight, though. I mean... It's not like we've kissed or anything."
"That may be true, Y/N, but that just might change during this game."
I hear (friend)'s addition and decide to take it as a challenge.
