C/N POV:
"Class dismissed."
The students rise from their seats, some pulling a bag over their shoulder and others having a laptop in hand as they exit my classroom. They all go out the door in small groups based on their cliques & friend groups– well, all except for one of them.
Y/N.
Once every other student is out and the door is closed, I pull out my folder of ungraded assignments from one of my other classes. I place it on my desk and sit down in my office chair, taking off my blazer and turning around to drape it over the back. I pull the chair up to the desk, slightly spreading my legs apart for comfort and grabbing my red pen to begin grading assignments. Just as I'm about to start grading, I hear Y/N approaching my desk. I look up as I decide to speak up.
"Here to get your phone?"
Y/N gives a small nod with a hum of confirmation, slightly adjusting his jacket and looking at me. I place the folder of ungraded assignments aside, my eyes locking onto. I notice how he adjusts his jacket and can't help but think it's a bit cute.
Wait, what? It can't be cute. He's a university student. Focus, C/N.
I pick up Y/N's phone and turn it on, handing it to him. He carefully takes his phone back and unlocks it with his face ID, quickly skimming through it for a moment before turning it off. I watch him fiddling with his phone, my eyes glued to his fingers as I admire the graceful movements of them.
"Thank you, professor C/N."
I clear my throat softly before responding, trying my best to continue paying attention.
"It's my pleasure, though I wish you'd be more present in class."
Y/N slips his phone into his pocket, brushing a strand of hair out of his eyes with his fingers.
"Yeah, I guess I was just especially distracted today. Not sure what it was."
"I noticed that."
I lean back in my chair again, studying his face intensely in a way that seems to make him shift nervously.
"Care to tell me what's been keeping your mind elsewhere, Y/N?"
My eyes begin lingering just below Y/N's lips, his eyes widening the slightest bit. He swallows thickly with a nervous chuckle.
"It's... it's nothing, really."
I smirk slightly at his nervous reaction, recognizing what that means. I stand up slowly, walking around my desk to face him directly. He watches me as I walk up to him.
"Is it really 'nothing'... or is it just something you're afraid to admit? You know, Y/N, I've seen that look before."
"You have?"
I stop right in front of Y/N and look into his eyes, searching for any sign that I'm hitting the nail on the head.
"Yes, I have. It's the look guys get when they're distracted by something– or someone."
Despite his obvious efforts to contain his composure, the smallest blush appears on his face as I continue to call him out. My smirk widens as I place my hands on either side of him on the desk I've slowly backed him up against, caging him in.
I'm getting warmer.
"You're blushing."
I feel my eyes crinkling at the corners as I suppress a laugh. Y/N's face reddens further as I nearly pin him to the desk.
