XI. IT'S JUST A REBELLIOUS PHASE

━━━━━━

"Maybe I'm mistaken

Maybe I just made it up, messed it up"

"HOW ARE YOU FEELING?" THE morning of the Hogsmeade visit had dawned on them before Marjorie could even say 'narcotics' just for fun. After breakfast, she and Daphne queued up in front of Filch, who matched their names to the long list of students who had permission from their parents or guardians to visit the village.

Since their first ever Hogsmeade visit, Marjorie had always been nervous about going down to Hogsmeade. It was not the idea of possibly getting kidnapped while being down there, which now she thought about it was an irrational thought in the first place — she digressed; she was nervous because her father had always seemed to sign the permission slip for anyway. Every year it was without a hitch that he was to sign the slip, which often prompted her to wonder whether there was something sinister that was going to come for her.

Usually, during her shower before the visit, she would create scenarios; maybe he had faux it and make her out to be a fool when Filch was to check her name. That was not irrational, but it was also not true. Then, another scenario was that it was all a test to see whether or not she would go down and if she were, then she would get punished when she gets home. That, too, was not exactly an irrational fear, but he almost never questioned her about Hogsmeade.

Sometimes, Marjorie did wonder: Did he even know he had signed the slip for Hogsmeade visit?

Either way, there was another reason for Marjorie to feel nervous — well, not exactly just nervous, but as well as the idea of dread, for other than having to discreetly go and meet up for that D.A.D.A. meeting Hermione had proposed about that would be held at Hog's Head, Marjorie had also something horrible to do before that: She had a date.

"Ready to get this over with," muttered Marjorie once they had gotten pass Filch.

"You know, for a bloke who had to pester you to remind you about today, he's not exactly here to escort you down, huh?" Daphne scowled.

"I was a bit shocked as well," Marjorie nodded slowly as she was reminded of Zacharias Smith and how he had stopped her in the corridors on the way to Defence Against the Dark Arts lesson yesterday... how he had merely told her to meet him in the village center instead of waiting for her at the Great Hall like all of her previous dates had — hell, even Roger Davies had been more considerate than that.

"Seems like Smith doesn't have much of a plan. I overheard Ernie McMillan and Smith talking in Charms yesterday. Don't expect much from him." Daphne said, rubbing her hands together for warmth against the chilly and crisp air.
