XIX. A WINTER'S OBSCURITY
━━━━━━
"If a black hole swallows us both
I'll keep hold of your soul 'till it's done"
MARJORIE EVERMORE REALLY WISHED THAT time didn't fly as fast as it did, for she was not prepared for the dreading holidays whatsoever.
In actuality, the days that led to the ever-so annoying Christmas break had been nothing but a game of passing the Quaffle for her; it was either having the enormity of wanting to keep herself sane, or the normality that was deciding whether or not throwing herself off the Astronomy Tower would be beneficial.
It definitely would be more beneficial than returning to Evermore Manor. Alas, the coldness of winter did not allow her.
Honestly, Marjorie failed to understand why everyone was such a rush in returning for the holidays this time around (of course she knew it was because of Umbridge and all), for there was nothing exciting going on (for her), so why even rush? Why be so hellbent on getting out of Hogwarts? Why do you want to even return to your blessed family? Seriously, why was everyone acting as if time was of the essence when all Marjorie wanted was to just be still with the time. Was it only just her?
Granted, this was her negative-self and paranoia talking as it settled deeply into her bones. She didn't want to go back to Essex.
Just at the mere thought of it made her nauseated. Dread was all that could be felt, draining her from what should be a merry experience and 'memories' to be made. But it wasn't something that she could do anything about. All she could do was just cope of the inevitable: Marjorie was returning home.
Dear Marie, '
Reminder: Do not try and bounce out of this one and stay at Hogwarts. Come home. For your own sake.
Your brother,
PercyDespite all the rush, fortunately, on the day of the return itself, it had been rather slow, a rare gift that Marjorie had secretly wished for. The morning began with an odd blend of serenity and chaos. Lavender's off-key rendition of Christmas carols drifted from the bathroom, a sound so jarring it was almost comical. Parvati's snores as she tried to sleep away the commotion. Hermione's fretful attempts to organize her belongings were a backdrop to the general morning mayhem. Breakfast in the Great Hall was a whirlwind of conversations, centered around their holiday plans, each exchange punctuated with hurried laughter and the clatter of dishes.
