XLIX. TRAGEDY IN HOGSMEADE

━━━━━━

"You take such delight

In killing my light"

WAKING UP IN THE MORNING of the Hosgmeade trip, which was proving to be slightly stormy, was harder than she anticipated. Nonetheless, Marjorie prepped for the day, padding herself with a sweater Anya had leant her and carrying cloaks, scarves, and gloves before she followed Hermione out, letting Lavender and Parvati to sleep in as they usually would during weekends. Together, the redheaded girl and the bushy-haired girl strolled their way down for breakfast, where they found Harry and Ron talking boisterously at the Gryffindor table.

"...you've got to teach me that, mate!"

"What are we talking about?" Marjorie asked as she and Hermione sat themselves across from the boys.

"Well..."

Ron began regaling of what happened in their morning, talking of the spell that Harry had just learnt; it was a spell that apparently dangle people in the air, and Ron had been his first victim... though, usually, victims don't enjoy being the first target.

"... and then there was another flash of light and I landed on the bed again!" Ron grinned, helping himself to sausages.

Marjorie blinked, processing what had just been told. "So, what I'm taking is, that you like being dangled like a fish?"

"Not literally," said Ron, before nodding slowly, "but sounds about it,"

Hermione didn't smile at this and particularly, she had an expression of wintry disapproval upon Harry.

"Was this spell, by any chance, another one from that potion book of yours?" she asked.

Harry frowned at her.

"Always jump to the worst conclusion, don't you?"

"Well, was it?" Marjorie chimed, quirking a brow.

"Well..." Harry averted his eyes from them, "Yeah, it was, but so what?"

"So you just decided to try out an unknown, handwritten incantation and see what would happen?" said Hermione rather agitatedly.

"Why does it matter if it's handwritten?" said Harry, preferring not to answer the rest of the question.

"Because it's probably not Ministry of Magic–approved," said Hermione. "And also," she added, as Harry and Ron rolled their eyes, "because I'm starting to think this Prince character was a bit dodgy."
