XLIV. THE START TO A DREADED SCHOOL YEAR

"I've never seen someone lit from within
Blurring out my periphery"
APPARENTLY, THE INVITATION THAT HARRY and Neville had gotten was an invitation to a weird gathering of what, quoting Ginny, "Seems to be people who are famously tied or something like that," which was, well, weird.
What was even weirder, though, was Harry's sudden disappearance after the event. While Never had returned to the compartment with Ginny, Harry seemed to have something urgent to attend to and slipped away without much of an explanation. Marjorie didn't dwell on it at first, choosing instead to focus on Daphne, who had spent the last couple of hours animatedly discussing Astoria's questionable taste in suitors. Despite Ginny's confident words, neither Hermione nor Ron seemed entirely convinced. Ron's brow was furrowed in concern, and Hermione's lips were pressed into a thin line as she continued to mull over the situation.
"You two should go and do your prefect duties," Marjorie suggested with a resigned sigh, trying to push away her own worries. "I'm sure he's fine and will be back before we arrive."
In fact, he didn't.
Harry never showed up whatsoever, and Marjorie took back what she said about him being fine and all. And it seemed that she was the only one that now felt anxious; Ginny had already given up on trying to search for him; Neville was completely clueless; Luna was out of the question. Daphne tried to reassure her that perhaps he had been caught in talking with people and all —
