LIV. A WISH THAT WILL NEVER COME TRUE

━━━━━━

"You're incomparable, fuck, it was chemical

You (you) plus (plus) me (me) was"

FOR THE NEXT FEW HOURS Marjorie found herself preparing for the the Christmas party that she was never originally supposed to even go to. Despite her initial reservations, she found herself oddly excited; she did said so herself that she had been itching to go to something that was of similarity to the grand balls she used to attend. A part of her still misses those time in which she would parade in a gown and act all high, mighty, and haughty demeanor — it had been fairly enticing of a task. Even though that version of herself was more an act than reality, she had relished the pretence of it.

Her afternoon had been consumed by the task of untangling Hermione's hair. It had been a battle of patience and skill, with strands of hair twisting and knotting stubbornly. However, after what felt like hours, Hermione's once tangled mane was now a cascade of define curls that were less frizzy, framing her face beautifully. With Hermione finally looking presentable, Marjorie turned her attention to her own preparations.

She didn't have as much gowns as she did before, but she knew there were some that was still hidden inside of her trunk; she rifled through her trunk, uncovering gowns she hadn't seen in years. The process was bittersweet and taking it out felt almost nostalgic if she just didn't recall all of the Cruciatus Curses that came with them. But that was all fine, of course.

At half-past seven, she came down the spiraling staircase and onto the common room, where she found Ginny talking to Dean, who was gushing at her. The youngest of all the Weasleys was wearing a stunning blue dress that made her red hair glow even more vibrantly. Dean looked utterly captivated, and Marjorie couldn't help but smile at the sight. Ginny caught her eye and waved her over, breaking away from Dean.

As Marjorie touched down on the final step, Ginny's eyes lit up, and she waved energetically.

"Marjorie, you look amazing!" Ginny's voice was filled with genuine delight that differed from her usual sarcastic comments she would have for her.

Marjorie smiled, giving a playful twirl to let the full effect of her gown be seen. "Ah, well, it's something I had to dig out of the trunk. But you look absolutely stunning yourself."

"Doesn't she?" grinned Dean, still looking a bit dazed at his girlfriend. Then he snapped out of his reverie to say, "You both look great."

"Nice save," Ginny teased, a playful glint in her eyes.
