Chapter twelve.
That whole week was something else, Aunt took me to get salon and I had a complete makeover, she bought me skin care for me to use every day and night and I must say I looked nice, My pale white skin was flawless, soft and shiny execpt for my freckles, my hair was long almost reaching my butt and was thick. My red hair looked pretty.
I put on my glasses and walked to th living room, Uncle Jack was sited in the couch watching TV, I sat down beside him. "Hey buns, how are you?" he said, Buns was a name he called when I was a kid, I can't believe he still remembers it.
"Come on uncle, I'm not a baby anymore" I said, the name was so embarrassing to me. "well not to me buns" He said and we just turned to watch the TV, be was watching a show about basketball, I smiled, it has always been my dream to play basket ball in High school, I mean it's Sooo cool and Lincoln high has the best pitch for every thing, Basketball court, dodge ball, That school is wild.
I would have tried but, I was scared I wouldn't make it or even they wouldn't want me there so I decided to lay low. "What are you thinking about?" I heard his voice. "Nothing" I said. "Really?, you can't just sit and smile and you're not thinking about something" Uncle said. "Just thinking about basketball, I'd really love to play it just like I did when I was a kid with you" I said with smile.
"Wow, Hanna, I thought you've changed but you're still Hanna, you know when children becomes teenagers, they seem to forget what ever dream they want as a child because even want to be among, the girls think they are now mature, make up, boyfriends parties, dress up. But you're every bit if the introvert you were" Uncle said.
"I never really liked any of that, I hate dressing skimpy, I hate clubs, parties, Alcohol, and I don't like make up nor do I have time for boys, I just love my books and basketball" I said with a smile. "Tomboy much," he said and I laughed. "no seriously o noticed it from your outfits, Buns, why didn't you join the basket ball team?, Lincoln his is a very elite school so they should have everything you need"..
"Yeah, everything there is so cool and nice but... um..., I couldn't because...." ."Because you thought you wouldn't make it or they wouldn't want you" he said and I just kept quiet. "What did they do for you to loose this much confidence" he said, I just sighed, he pulled me cldoser to him letting my head rest on the thighs, he then stroke my hair. "Don't let anyone take your dreams away, it's just like when I first met your aunt, she was just a very pretty woman, I decided to change who I was to a completely different person, I didn't tell her cause I thought she would leave me but when she found out, she was so mad at me for not telling her" he stopped.
"She forgave me and turns out she loves nerds, I was so happy, we dated throughout high school and got married, she's been my whole world ever since, mmm" he hummed and I just smiled, he really liked Aunt, it's real terrible that aunt can't give birth, they would have been the perfect family and parents to their kids.
I remember when Uncles family found out that Aunt couldn't have children, they talked him into getting a divorce or taking another woman but uncle said he doesn't want another woman, he was content with aunt, he didn't want her to be hurt, he loved her so much.
Uncle kept talking about his time with aunt and I got bored. "Uncle, really.." I said, "oh sorry, I might have gotten carried away, well she moral of the lesson is, people are gonna love you not for the outside but for what's on the inside and if the love is genuine both parties are gonna oversee their flaws, you're pretty, smart, talented, I'm sure smarted than the whole population in your class" he said and I smiled.
"And nice, that's enough for people to like you, Hanna, I know what to do, but for now go to sleep," He said, I closed my eyes and continued to reflect all what he said, soon I fell asleep.
Uncle.
Her breathing became steady, I already knew she was asleep, I was about I pick up my remote when the door unlocked, Susan walked in with a whole bunch of things. "Hey babe, wow what's with all the stuff?" I asked. "well I must say I almost maxed out your credit card, there was so much things to buy for Hanna, oh she's asleep" I heard her say as she walked beside me. "Help me lift her up, I am gonna take her to her room" I said.
After successfully putting Hanna in her room, Susan and I went back to the living room. "I don't really know what happened back but Hanna seems different" I said and she just sighed. "yeah, she get bullied at school for being a schorlaship students and not pretty, her parents and sister aren't any help" She said. Wow I didn't know that. "So I am on a mission to bring back that Hanna" She said.
"Well count me in, Hanna really misses basketball so I am thinking this Saturday we go to the court, mm?" I asked and she nodded. "Yes, that would be perfect, I bought her so many clothes and shoes" She said, "hope you didn't buy her dresses?" I asked, "No... Well maybe a little come on she can't just be stuck wearing baggy fits all day, what if she has like a party" She said and I smiled, she was gonna be perfect for a mum, a caring and loving type.
