Chapter twenty nine.

After eating, they all went to meet their parents, everywhere was buzzing with excitement for the party, Jenny and I just sat outside, since I have a broken ankle, I couldn't move around much. My parents spent most of their time with Claire they didn't even look at me so Jenny was the only one I had by my side.

"Hanna!" I heard someone call my name, a very familiar voice, we both turned to look at aunt and uncle standing in front of their car, I was so surprised to see them, I didn't know they would make it. They walked towards me, I manged to stand up as we all hugged. "Oh my god! Aunt I didn't know you guys were going to come." I said. "Nonsense we wouldn't miss your first game for anything and you won," Aunt said.

"Congratulations buns, you did really good out there." Uncle said and I smiled. "Thank you so much, I'm so happy to see you both." I said, words couldn't explain how happy I was to see them, it felt like eternity. "Aww you're so sweet," Aunt said.

"Well, you guys should meet Jenny, she's my best friend, the one I told you about." I said diverting the attention to Jenny. "Ah Jenny, how are you, Hanna said quite a lot of things about you." Aunt said. "Oh my god hi, I can't believe the famous miss Susan is standing right in front of me, my talks about your saloon a lot." Jenny said ranting like a twelve year old fangirl, Aunt just smiled.

"Thank you, I saw your instagram, you're quite the fashionista yourself, whenever you come to New Jersey with your mom, you get free make over." Aunt said, "Really? Thank you, thank you." Jenng said squealing like a bird, Uncle and I both watched the due. "Yeah, Hanna how's your leg?" Uncle sakd changing the topic. "it's fine actually," I said with a smile.

We all talked for some time before uncle and Aunt returned back to New Jersey. It was time to head back home and we all did.

     Saturday...

Today was Saturday the after party, Jenny and I went shopping a day before and she bought me some dresses even though I told her I don't like wearing one, she forced me.

I let my hair fall down my shoulders, I wore the dress that Jenny bought me, it was a long wine slim fit dress, the dress hugged my body showing my curves, it was an ankle length dress which has a slit in front, it was a striped dress. I really did not like my skin showing so I wore a leather jacket on top of the dress. My ankle was still hurting so I wore black comfy yet flashy slippers to go.

I applied some foundation and a lip gloss to go, I walked downstairs, Claire was already dressed, she wore a short strapless body con dress with black heels. "Aww both of you girl are ready, Hanna I love your outfit." Mom said and I just smiled. Jenny texted me to meet her outside and I did, she was looking cute her long body con dress, her hair packed in a ponytail, she has the nice make up on, overall she was pretty.

We both entered her moms car and she drove us to the party, it was done in the schools hall, very big and well decorated, it even had a pool, the party was an evening party, eveyone dressed the part, students hanging out with their boyfriends, loud music, alcohol and different things, this looked more like a club.

"Wow, I wasn't expecting it to be like this, the school sure knows how to throw a party." I said. Jenny and I took our seat with some friends, we ordered something to eat. It was a very fun night.

When Dominic and Kai entered the hall, the atmosphere shifted. The music seemed to pulse louder, and whispers spread quickly as the two of them walked in. Dominic stood out, not just because of his height and the way his dark hair caught the light, but because he had a presence about him—aloof, distant, almost unapproachable. He wore a white loose shirt and black trousers, tailored to perfection, and though he looked effortlessly stylish, his expression remained indifferent, as if the party was the last place he wanted to be. Unlike Kai, who was all smiles and waves.

I noticed him immediately, and apparently, so did everyone else. Girls turned to steal glances at him, whispering to each other, but none dared approach. Dominic wasn’t the type to engage in casual conversations or flirt with girls. He barely acknowledged the attention, his focus elsewhere. His eyes, however, flicked over to me for the briefest moment. Our gazes met—just for a second—and I quickly looked away, my heart skipping a beat. I hadn’t expected to see him here.

Jenny nudged me. “There’s Kai!” she whispered excitedly. Her eyes were bright as she spotted him making his way through the crowd, his usual carefree grin in place. Kai was the opposite of Dominic in every way. While Dominic was distant and reserved, Kai was warm, always ready with a smile and a friendly word.

“I’m going to go say hi,” Jenny said, barely containing her excitement.

I gave her a small smile. “Go ahead. I’ll be fine here.”

She stood up, adjusting her dress one last time before heading toward Kai. As I watched her walk away, I couldn’t help but glance in Dominic’s direction again. He was standing near the bar now, arms crossed, looking over the crowd with the same detached expression. There was something about him that drew attention, even when he wasn’t trying.

I tried to focus on the party, on the music and the laughter around me, but my eyes kept drifting back to Dominic. It seemed like we were both doing the same thing—stealing glances at each other without actually making a move to talk. It was strange, this silent exchange between us.

I shifted in my seat, adjusting the strap of my leather jacket. My ankle was still aching, but I did my best to ignore it. Jenny had forced me into this dress, and while it wasn’t exactly my style, I had to admit it looked good. The long, wine-colored fabric hugged my curves in a way that was flattering, and though the slit in the front made me uncomfortable, the jacket helped me feel a little more like myself.

From across the room, I saw Kai spot Jenny. His face lit up, and he waved her over, his usual easy charm on full display. Jenny’s face flushed with excitement as she walked up to him, and soon they were deep in conversation, laughing and exchanging smiles. I was happy for her.

Meanwhile, the party was in full swing. The hall was packed with students, the decorations casting a warm glow over everything. Fairy lights twinkled above us, and a pool outside reflected the lights in the evening air. The music was loud, the bass thumping through the floor, and groups of people were either dancing or sitting around, chatting and laughing.

I sat there, sipping on my soda, and letting the noise of the party fade into the background. Dominic remained in my peripheral vision, standing near the bar but not drinking either. He was watching the party unfold with the same detached air, occasionally glancing over at me.

After what felt like an eternity of these silent exchanges, Dominic turned and left the bar area, heading toward one of the quieter corners of the hall. He moved with purpose, as though he was trying to escape the crowd. I watched him go, curious but not willing to follow.

Jenny was still with Kai, the two of them now sitting closer together, clearly engrossed in conversation. I smiled to myself, happy to see her so excited. She deserved this moment.

Jenny came back to our seat. “Well, that was fun,” Jenny said, sitting down beside me with a bright smile. “Kai’s actually really nice. We’re going to hang out sometime.”

I smiled at her. “I’m glad. You seemed to be having a good time.”

She nodded, her excitement still bubbling over. “Yeah, I was. What about you? How was your night?”

I shrugged. “It was… interesting.”

Jenny glanced over at the now-empty corner where Dominic had been. “Did you and Dominic talk?”

I shook my head, smiling softly. “No, not really.”
