Chapter forty seven.
Hanna.
I woke up feeling light headed and weak, it took some time for my eyes to adjust to the lightening of the room, my head hurts a little, I felt fuzzy and weird, the nurse screamed and ran to call the doctor.
He examined me. "Do you remember what happened?" the doctor asked me, at first when I tried to remember my head started hurting. "Slowly, don't rush." The doctor said and I calmed down, I remembered, "My sister gave me peanuts to eat and I guess I passed out." I said.
"Yeah, your allergies came up and you've been in a coma ever since." the doctor said and My eyes widen. "Coma? How long have I been out?" I asked, my voice low, it felt weird to speak. "A month and a few weeks." The doctor told me, I was just speechless.
"God, it's worse than when I was fourteen." I said shutting my eyes and digesting all of this. "How do you feel now?" he asked me. "Weak, sick," I said explaining how I felt in just two words. "yeah, your blood pressure is quite low so you should feel that way, you'll say for a few days in the hospital for further examination and if there's no problem, you'll be discharged." the doctor said and I nodded.
"Plus, you are lucky to have such amazing friends at school, they'd visit you everyday and lefts gifts." The doctor told me and I smiled. "I'm sure they are just out the door waiting for me to come out." the doctor told me and I was so excited to see them.
He went out and few minutes later, Aunt Susan, Jenny, Kai and Dominic walked in, I was so happy to see them, it's been a while, we hugged, laughed and cried a little, Aunt Susan had to leave for new Jersey due to an incident leaving us alone.
"I'm so happy that you're awake." Jenny said to me. "I told you she'll wake up, you just need to have faith." Kai said, he wrapped his arms around Jenny and she smiled, I knew something was going on between them but I decided to let time tell.
"are you hungry?" she asked and I nodded, "Kai, why don't we go shop for food." Jenny said, she winked at Kai, they both helds and walked out of the room leaving just Dominic and I.
"Is it me or something's up with those two?" I asked. "Definitely." Dominic said and I smiled. "How's the project?" I asked knowing so well he must have done it himself and submitted it.
"It went well, we got an A," He said. "I'm sorry I couldn't help with it, you must have stressed yourself a lot to do it on your own." I said, he stared at me. "You actually helped me, I saw your notes, it came in very handy and made it a lot easier." He said, his deep voice calm and comforting.
"Thanks though, I've really forgotten how painful it is to have an allergy just like when I was fourteen." I said. "How did it happen?" I heard him ask. "Well Claire fell sick the day before, had one of her panic attacks, um my mum decided to take her to the park to cheer her up, she requested not to take me along, I didn't care, later I wanted to eat, mum already packed our lunch, she must have forgotten to make a buttered bread or Jam, I took the sandwich not knowing it has peanuts in it and that's when it all began, rash, difficult breathing, stomach ache, I managed to get to the phone to call mum but she didn't answer, my dad, not reachable, I called for help but no one came, I passed out, it took me two weeks to wake up." I said, he stayed silent for a while
"sorry you had to go through it." he finally said, I was stunned for a sec. "Thanks," I said with a smile and he smiled back, my heart skipped so much, did he just smile. "Wow, you smiled," I said, though his smile was brief, it made me feel fuzzy. "I guess Jenny must have rubbed off on me, she's something else." Domimic said and I couldn't help but laugh.
"Yeah, she can make anyone come out of their shell even the famous Dominic D, she's definitely something else." I said. "How do you feel?" he asked. "Happy," I said and just then Jenny and Kai walked in. "Were back!" Jenny said, they bought tons of food. "Wow, you guys bought a lot of food." I said, she helped me sit up straight.
"I got chicken sandwich for all of us, strawberry drinks, side dish sushi and we can't forget, snacks." Jenny said. "That's a lot." I said. "I told her." Kai said to me. "Ugh, typical Americans, in Korea we eat Ramyeon (ramen) with sauced chicken, sausage, veggies, Kimichi and fried eggs, is that too much?" She said and the room fell silent.
"Whatever, everyone just eat up." she said. I took a bite out of the sandwich and god it tasted so nice, it felt like I haven't eaten in ages but sadly, just few bites and I already feel full. "I'm full." I said. "It's Okay, the doctor said you'd have low appetite." Jenny, she passed me a strawberry drink and I took a sip.
