Chapter Twenty-Eight

The T7 team went onto the field to play against Shane’s group, and when Miss Gemma said they were legends, she wasn’t exaggerating. Kai and Dominic were on a whole different level, playing like they were born for this. The synergy between them and the rest of the team was undeniable—they moved in perfect harmony.

As expected, they won, and the look on Shane’s face was absolutely priceless. The crowd went wild, with girls screaming their hearts out. Dominic, still on the field, ran his hands through his black, silky hair, pushing it back, and that simple gesture made the girls scream even louder. I couldn’t blame them. There was something about him—his very presence screamed attractiveness. The boys were awarded a trophy, and the applause was deafening.

They walked back to where we were sitting. "Gosh, you guys were amazing!" Lauren gushed.

“Are you just figuring that out?” Blake teased, ecarning an eye-roll from Lauren.

"Yeah, yeah," she said, smiling despite herself. The rest of the girls and boys began chatting excitedly about the game.

"You guys were amazing up there!" Jenny complimented.

Kai grinned. “Mmmhmm,” he responded with a nod, causing her to smile even more. I couldn’t help but watch the two of them—they had an undeniable chemistry.

“You guys play like perfection itself,” I said, turning to Dominic. He gave a slight nod in response, but then I extended a bottle of water toward him, unsure if he’d even accept it. To my surprise, he did. He took the bottle, opened the cap, and took a sip. The moment played out in slow motion for me—seriously, even the way he drank water seemed effortlessly attractive. I quickly looked away, reminding myself not to get carried away by his good looks.

After the game, we all headed back to the school building to shower and change into more comfortable clothes. Once Jenny, I, and the other girls were done, we made our way to the cafeteria. The place was buzzing with talk about the boys’ impressive game and my unexpected jump during the girls' match. People kept calling me a good player, and for the first time, I felt like I was the center of attention. It wasn’t something I had ever needed, but it was nice that the girls had won.

“Hanna, you’re popular now!” Rachel exclaimed, her smile wide. “Everyone is talking about your magical jump.”

“Yeah! How did you manage to play so well and make that jump, even though you were injured?” Maggie asked, looking completely confused.

“I guess I just bottled up the pain,” I explained. “It hurt like hell, but when you’re determined to do something, everything else fades away.”

“Finally! My bestie is getting the recognition she deserves. I’m so proud of you,” Jenny said, pulling out her phone. “Victory pic!” We all posed as she took yet another picture—her love for social media and feeding her followers was unrelenting.

“Hey guys, mind if we join?” Kai’s voice interrupted us. We all turned to see him and the other T7 boys standing behind us.

“Sure,” Lauren answered, and soon enough, they had arranged chairs around our table, joining our conversation.

“So, why the sudden change in seating?” Maggie asked, sipping from her drink.

Blake was the one to answer. “We wanted to officially introduce ourselves—and also welcome our new female teammates.” He flashed a grin.

T7 consisted of Dominic, Kai, Blake, Dave, and Finn—all of them ridiculously good-looking and athletic.

“Congratulations on your win,” Finn said, pulling out a small box and handing it to Lauren. She opened it and gasped, pulling out a badge identical to the ones the boys wore. The only difference was that our names were etched onto them.

“A badge! We get a badge!” Lauren exclaimed, passing the badge to the rest of us.

“Oh my god! We get a badge just like you guys!” Rachel squealed, practically vibrating with excitement.

“Thank you guys so much!” Maggie added. “This makes it official.”

“You’re welcome. We figured you’d like them,” Blake said with a smile.

“Like them? We love them!” Rachel corrected him, still unable to contain her excitement.

“We’ve been dreaming about this for so long,” Lauren said, giving me a side-hug along with the other girls. “Thank you, Hanna, for making this dream come true.”

I smiled at their warmth. Even the boys looked on with amused smiles.

“There’s no achievement without pictures! Come on, guys, show off your badges,” Jenny said, snapping pictures as we proudly displayed them.

Speaking of Hanna, how’s your ankle?” Finn asked, concern in his voice. “You really pushed yourself out there.”

“It still hurts, but it’s manageable,” I replied, offering a reassuring smile.

“You’re really skilled—kind of like the female version of Dominic,” Blake said, causing me to blush a little.

“I’m not that skilled,” I said nervously. “I just used my brain. Honestly, I wouldn’t have been able to do it without some help.” I caught Dominic’s eye for a brief moment before looking away.

“Of course Hanna is smart,” Lauren said, causing everyone to laugh.

Suddenly, we heard the headmistress’s voice over the loudspeakers. “Congratulations to the Tigress team on their remarkable win! Your performance today was outstanding. This Saturday, we’ll be celebrating with an after-party for all students—don’t miss it. Enjoy the rest of your day!” The entire cafeteria erupted into cheers.

Just then, Grace and her team stormed over to us. “Don’t get too comfortable,” Grace sneered. “Just because you managed to win today doesn’t mean you’ll win next time.”

“Yeah,” Claire added, glaring at us. “Enjoy your little victory while it lasts.”

Dave smirked. “Is it just me, or do I smell jealousy?”

Grace and her team stomped off, clearly not in the mood for more taunting.
