Atharv sir said he needed to talk.
My stomach dropped.
It felt like the awful moment when your parents look at you with serious expression and tell you that wish to talk with you about something. That's when you suddenly scramble to remember every single lie you have told, every single sin you have committed or every single secret you have buried deep.
I'm certain I'm about to be schooled, given that I'm the project head. Any mistake in the project inevitably falls on my shoulders, making me responsible for it. I stand there awkwardly, my heart pounding as I brace myself for what feels like the impending storm of sir's wrath.
Joy side eyes me, as I sense him equally as nervous as me.
Relax Evs, you have nothing to worry about.
I reassure myself.
"Joy and Kapoor. Please sit." Sir instructs.
We both quickly take actions and sit on the chair. Sir shuts his laptop down and slides it aside, now focusing straight on both of us.
"I am terminating you both from this project. Because of the carelessness of you two, today we are facing this crisis. You can join the other interns and continue with the normal office work. Thank you for working with Quantum Leap. You both can leave."

His words screech a knife through my heart. Tears begin to well up instantly in my eyes. I begin to feel numb. I could see all my hardwork flowing down the drain.
"Kapoor. Kapoor!" I suddenly jolt out of my state, when I see Atharv sir and Joy calling out my name.
"Kapoor are you here? Are you okay? Feeling unwell?" Sir questions me with concern.
"Huh?" I ask in confusion and suddenly begin pleading, "sir please do not terminate us, sir. We will try our best to resolve this and sir-sir trust us this will never happen agai-"
"Terminate? Who is getting terminated? Kapoor are you really okay?" Now sir stares at me in confusion.
I look around to Joy, and he also looks at me with confusion.
I wanna cry. In confusion.
"I think- I was just- dreaming- I mean sorry sir." I shamefully look down.
Sir scoffs and smiles a little and says, "Nobody is getting terminated. Relax Kapoor."
I let out a relieved sigh. I sometimes act really stupid. I need to stop.
"I am sure the team will get a solution by the end of the day. However..."
Sir hesitates before completing his statement.
"Something wrong... sir?" Joy asks.
"We will find the solution. But I think this will happen again." Sir says, looking straight in our eyes.
