I took an Uber from Pluto's house around 7. I felt kinda bad for leaving but I had an early client and I really wasn't sure if he wanted me lingering around. After making breakfast, I hurried home to take a shower and get myself together before meeting up with my client at my around 9. Since moving I had to build clientele as a freelancer and work on my portfolio to join an agency so I could get booked for bigger projects. So far I had been doing makeup for birthdays, baby showers, and a few weddings. I was good at my craft so my name got put out more than I expected.
Today was my client's 16th birthday so she asked for a modest glam look for her birthday photoshoot. I made small talk with her and her mom as we discussed life, her plans for college, and most things you would discuss with a teenager with her parent present. I finished her look and took a few photos for my business page before seeing them off.
I had a missed call from Pluto from about an hour ago and decided to call back after they left but I didn't get an answer so I decided to Facetime my best friend Tiffany while I waited for my next appointment.
"Hey, boo," she answered. "I came over last night and you weren't there."
"Hey, I was out. Sorry."
"You went out without your best friend? Weird," she laughed.
"You couldn't go where I was."
"You finally went on a date?! Hallelujah," she said as she started dancing.
"I wouldn't say a 'date'."
"But you were with a man, right?"
"Yes, I was with a man."
"That's good enough for me. So what's his name? Tell me about him."
"Okay, but you can't tell anyone."
"Oop, this sound like tea. Let me get comfortable."
"No, I'm serious. This has to stay between us."
"Girl, you making this so secretive like you was with Obama last night. Just tell me."
"Not Obama," I laughed. "Yesterday I got a like and message on IG from someone and I went to see him last night."
"Okay, but like ... from who?"
"Pluto," I said blushing.
"Liyah, get the fuck out. Pluto, Pluto?!"
"Yes, that Pluto," I laughed.
"Lord that man is so fine. Please don't tell me he gave you some dick or I'll never talk to you again."
"Oh well bye then," I laughed.
"Aaliyah! Was it big? Was it good? Never mind, don't answer. I know it was."
"It definitely was. I've been thinking about him all morning."
"I can't believe this, omg. We literally just moved out here and you already bagging rap niggas. Girl, put me on Gunna today and I'm not playing."
"Cut it out," I laughed. "We still going out tonight?"
"Hell yeah. When your last appointment?"
"I think 4 so I should be wrapping up to leave around 6."
A call came through on the other line from Pluto.
"Hold on, let me call you back," I said hanging up the Facetime to answer the call.
"Hello?"
"Good morning, Casper."
"Good morning," I blushed.
"Thank you for breakfast. It was really good."
"You're welcome. I'm glad you liked it."
