⚠️. Collin’s POV

Hours turned to days, days turned to a week. One week passed by that seemed like a month already when things went the hard way during a natural disaster weather.

A lot already happened within just a week, we lost track of time that even Sage could not understand what was written in her map anymore because she lacks the need of food, her mind doesn’t work the way it does when the body is out of energy.

For two days, we beared with an abnormally hot weather that resulted with Mavis fainting from the heat exhaustion, Grazer getting nauseous from forcing herself to walk further with an empty stomach and Stormy getting sore feet from all the endless walking.

The next few days, rain poured hard. There must’ve been a typhoon that we needed to find a shelter as soon as possible. But it still happened that Jacen got sick from the extreme overfatigue of her body. Asteria and I forced ourselves to do all the work while Millan is the one assigned to seek for foods, drinks, medicines and enough clothes to dry and repel all the disease from being glued to our weak bodies.

It was now Sunday, the past few days were a complete blur. I couldn’t remember quite well how things went this way, how every one of us survived that one hell of a rollercoaster ride within just a week.

A week full of terror, pain and madness with few of us starving and thirsty of tasting the real sweetness of reality. This isn’t what we wanted, we never wanted any of this to happen and especially not the day where one of us almost died from the desperation of leaving this hell hole.

FLASHBACK (Wednesday)

“It’s almost night time, we have to find food” Grazer spoke, placing down the empty bag of our canned goods and bottled waters.

I sighed, this is what surviving really looks like without enough water to satisfy our thirsts and food to regain our energy. We had nothing but our medicines and our weapons.

Our weapons! As an idea popped into my head, I told the whole group that we should improvise and hunt down for some food. By hunt down, I meant hunting down wild animals around this forest we saw blocks away from the main city.

“Are you sure about this, Cole? We’re not in some open season hunting to do this and with the zombies lurking in this area” Millan whispers but loud enough for everyone else to overhear.

“Look, if gusto niyo mabuhay nang matagal we have to trust each other on this and you have to risk something once in a while in order to live longer” I stated with full confidence and trust with myself.

They all gave me a nodding look, an approval to where they will look up to my idea on how to survive this place and avoid dying with a meaningless death.

As we heard little rustles from behind a tree, I told the girls to lie low and hid under from where I stood with both Grazer and Millan. I tapped them on their shoulders and pointed at a wild boar eating a grass from across us.

“Millan, you do it. Mas flexible and mabilis galaw mo kumpara sa aming dalawa ni Raze” I handed her the axe, she unconsciously took it and blinked hard before focusing on the target.

“Kaya mo yan, Mills. Isipin mo si Cameron 'yan so go for the head okay?” Grazer said, almost sounding too sorry for the feral animal in front of us.

I felt bad too, but we have no choice and our desperation in need of food might turn us into something even more mad or far from the term senseless.

Millan readied herself and gripped the axe tight as she can before silently walking up to the front, careful not to scare away the boar. As she swung the axe up, I tried not to look from seeing the boar dead from her attack but I had to observe how she kills that feral hog.
