The collaboration song had been a wild success—something beyond what anyone had expected. The song had hit charts globally, skyrocketing to the top. Fans were ecstatic to finally get a collaboration between AURORA and WONDERLAND. It was like a dream come true, seeing two groups that had been compared endlessly come together for such a powerful release. Still, amidst the celebrations, there was a bittersweet undertone. The disbandment of AURORA had left fans heartbroken, but they were grateful for what they had been given—a final, triumphant song from both groups united.
Wooyoung could hardly believe it as he scrolled through the comments under their music video. "The best collab ever!" "Why did AURORA have to disband?" "At least we got this iconic moment!" His heart swelled with pride, but also a hint of sadness. The reality of their disbandment was still sinking in.
San was next to him, absentmindedly playing with a loose thread on Wooyoung's sleeve as they sat together on the couch, enjoying the quiet after the whirlwind of the past few weeks. They had finally made up, and things between them were...good. Better than good, actually.
"You see this?" Wooyoung chuckled, leaning his head on San's shoulder, showing him a comment. "Someone said they knew the whole time we were best friends, but didn't know we were this close."
San smirked, glancing at the screen before placing a soft kiss on Wooyoung's temple. "Yeah, best friends. They definitely don't know everything."
Wooyoung giggled, his heart warming at the affection. It was small moments like these—where everything felt calm, and San's presence beside him was all he needed—that Wooyoung cherished the most. He sighed, content, as San shifted to wrap an arm around his waist, pulling him even closer.
"Do you ever think about what's next?" Wooyoung asked quietly, turning his face so his lips brushed against San's jawline. He didn't even notice the way his hands wandered, fingers tracing gentle patterns along San's chest.
"Mm, sometimes," San murmured, dipping his head to kiss Wooyoung's cheek again, then his nose, and finally his lips in a soft, languid kiss. "But not right now. Right now, I just want this."
They shared another kiss—slow, meaningful, a reminder of how far they had come. Every time their lips touched, it was like a promise to never let the past interfere again.
"Okay, but when you do think about the future," Wooyoung added playfully, grinning between kisses, "you better include me in it."
San smiled against his lips, his hand finding its way to the back of Wooyoung's neck, pulling him closer. "You're my entire future."
Wooyoung's heart fluttered at the words. "San," he teased, but his own eyes were filled with warmth, the kind that spoke of everything he felt but didn't need to say.
Suddenly, the peaceful quiet was broken by the sound of a door bursting open. "We're here!" Yunho's loud voice echoed through the apartment, followed by the clamor of several more voices.
Wooyoung groaned, burying his face in San's chest as the others poured in. "I thought we were gonna have a quiet day," he mumbled, clearly annoyed but amused all the same.
San chuckled, pressing another kiss to Wooyoung's hair before sitting up. "With these bitches? No chance."
Sure enough, the rest of WONDERLAND and AURORA's members were now flooding into the apartment, bringing their usual chaos. Yunho and Mingi were already bickering over something ridiculous, Jongho was teasing Yeosang about some inside joke, and Seonghwa and Hongjoong were trying—unsuccessfully—to maintain order.
"What are you two doing over there?" Mingi called out, eyeing Wooyoung and San, a mischievous smirk on his face.
"Plotting how to kick you out," Wooyoung replied with a grin, though he remained curled up against San, not moving an inch.
"Oh, come on," Yunho teased, nudging Mingi. "Let the lovebirds be. They've been through a lot."
San threw them a playful glare, but the smile never left his face. "You're lucky Wooyoung's the one keeping me from throwing you out the window."
"Can't throw me out. I'm too big," Yunho countered with a smug grin, but before he could say anything else, Seonghwa clapped his hands to get everyone's attention.
"Alright, alright, everyone calm down," Seonghwa said, his voice authoritative but warm. "We're not here to cause a riot."
Hongjoong, standing beside Seonghwa, shot him a knowing smile, as if to say, Good luck with that.
San shook his head, watching the scene unfold. It was chaos, but it was their chaos. Their friends, their lives, tangled together in ways that no one else could understand. And he was grateful for every bit of it.
Eventually, the noise died down as everyone settled into their usual banter. Seonghwa and Hongjoong, however, stayed a little off to the side, their eyes occasionally drifting back to Wooyoung and San.
"They've changed a lot, haven't they?" Hongjoong murmured, glancing at Seonghwa with a soft smile.
Seonghwa nodded, his gaze fond as he watched Wooyoung and San. The two of them were sitting close, quietly talking and laughing to themselves, sharing fleeting touches and small smiles. It was clear how much they had grown, how much stronger they were together after everything they had gone through.
"They have," Seonghwa agreed, leaning slightly into Hongjoong's side. "It's good to see them like this."
Hongjoong glanced down at Seonghwa, a gentle smile playing on his lips. "Yeah... it is."
For a moment, they stood there in comfortable silence, watching their friends—no, their family—enjoy the small, chaotic moments they had created together. Wooyoung's laugh rang out across the room, followed by a playful shove from San, and Seonghwa couldn't help but smile even wider.
Hongjoong caught the look on his face and leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to Seonghwa's temple. "I'm glad things are finally settling down."
Seonghwa hummed in agreement, resting his head against Hongjoong's shoulder. "Me too."
the flute and the drum, two instruments that gave off completely different vibes and tunes. who knew they could attract people just like them and turn them into one?
the flute, often associated with peace, harmony, and gracefulness, was an instrument that carried more than its surface charm. its soft, delicate tones had a way of soothing the soul, making everything around it seem serene. but there was a catch. Hidden beneath the calm exterior, the flute could also convey sadness, despondency, and melancholy. it held a depth that most people overlooked. the melodies, no matter how beautiful, always carried a trace of something deeper—something broken. but who really cared enough to listen for it? the world loved its peaceful sounds without understanding the pain it held within.
the drum, on the other hand, was aggressive, bold, and unforgiving. it demanded attention, its beats resonating with power and force. It thrived on its hostility, drawing people in with its raw energy. the drum was relentless, capable of commanding a crowd with a single strike. it could convey any meaning, any feeling—joy, anger, chaos—and people would still move to its rhythm. they loved it for its strength, for the way it could shake the ground beneath their feet. but what meaning would you bother to look for, when you already enjoyed it so much? why question the drum when it gave you exactly what you wanted?
two instruments—one subtle and sorrowful, the other loud and dominant. yet, despite their contrasts, they attracted people who mirrored them. and when those people came together, they created a balance. the flute's quiet yearning tempered the drum's aggressive passion, while the drum's ferocity breathed life into the flute's subdued existence. together, they weren't just instruments anymore. they were one powerful force, a blend of opposing energies that somehow made sense.
maybe that's why they worked—because in their differences, they found the harmony that both had been missing. wooyoung and san.
