Vegas let out a long sigh. He woke up this morning with Pete nowhere to be seen. His bedroom on the second floor was empty again and his bedroom on the first floor was locked. He had planned to apologize to Pete this morning, hoping he would at least let down his guard around him, but it looked like he would have to wait until Pete was ready to talk to him.

"Should I have someone design the bedroom?" Nop asked him.

"No." Vegas answered while closing his eyes and leaning his head on his chair, "Just buy the things I ask for."

"Got it, boss." Nop answered.

Vegas opened his eyes and shot Nop a nasty look, "Why didn't you pick me up at the club?!?"

"I was on leave, boss." Nop answered with a raised eyebrow, "I was also on leave yesterday, but since you seemed in jam, I went to your house."

Nop usually picked him up if he was wasted in club. Even in the past, Pete rarely picked him up, only occasionally if Nop or a substitute driver wasn't available. Unfortunately for him, it seemed the two incidents happened on a Saturday night and Pete had to watch him leave with some random guy. It wasn't anyone's fault but his own, but he was still upset that it had to happen last Saturday.

"Why did you take a leave?" Vegas asked curiously.

"My wife was in labor." Nop answered right away as if he knew Vegas wouldn't remember the reason.

"Ah, the twins are here..." Vegas dragged his voice as he smiled at Nop, "Congratulations. Convey my best wishes to your wife. She must be happy with two boys."

"Yes, she is very happy. We finally have a child after 10 years of waiting." Nop smiled proudly, "I guess I was too excited, I don't even remember telling you that we were having twins, let alone the gender."

"Let's just say you already told me." Vegas chuckled.

He knew Nop was really cherished his family the most, especially the twins who he and his wife, had been waiting for a long time. Vegas was hesitant to let Nop go when he asked for his resignation but Pete convinced him it was for the best. Pete told him to give the twins something they didn't have, a normal family.

"Have you found the information I asked for?" Vegas changed the conversation and turned his attention to his computer.

"Should be in your email, boss."

Vegas found Nop's email right away. He opened all the file attachments and read the documents. His forehead furrowed more and more each time he finished reading each document, "Pete passed all the cognitive stages and interviews, but none of them offered him a job?" Vegas said after some time, "That doesn't seem right."

"Yeah, that's weird." Nop agreed, "Not even one of them offered an internship position. The company he is at now was the only one that offered him a job, so he took it."

Vegas sighed and leaned back again. It was a good thing to ask Nop to investigate Pete's work. His grandfather was actually seriously ill and he needed money for medical bills. The pay at his current job was below par so he had to take part time on weekends. Pete never told Vegas about this, not even in the past. Vegas learned about it from Nop after his grandfather finally passed away. Vegas could help him with hospital bills now, but Pete wouldn't accept his help judging by their current relationship.

"Excellent GPA, excellent interview, but not a single offer..." Vegas muttered to himself while deep in thought, "It almost looks like someone wanted him to fail..."

There was one name crossed Vegas's mind. Someone he knew really hated Pete even though Pete didn't do anything.

And remembering his name made his blood boil.
