Somehow, it bothered him.
Somehow, he couldn't stop thinking about it.
In the weeks before his father's accident, Pete went to a southern city almost every weekend. He, who previously never cared about Pete's affairs, was even curious at that time. Pete explained to him that he had to oversee his company's project down south without further explanation. Vegas didn't think much of it at the time and went on with his life, thinking there was nothing in it.
His indifference in the past ultimately cost him. He knew nothing about Pete or his family's past affairs and what Pete was really doing in the southern town. He was almost certain that it had nothing to do with his job. No matter how busy he was, Pete only worked late at night at his company but never worked on weekends. As crazy as Ohm was as a boss, he never bothered his employees on the weekends which was why Pete could work elsewhere knowing that he wouldn't be working full time on the weekends.
He couldn't ask Pete because it hadn't happened yet, so he used his usual method.
"You could say Phongsakorn's legacy is in the south, boss." Nop said to him while handing him his iPad.
Vegas took it with interest and immediately scrolled around. Nop listed a dozen Phongsakorn factories, all of which are located in the south.
"Isn't their headquarters here?" Vegas asked, his eyes still on the iPad.
"Yes, for their management." Nop nodded, "But they have another headquarters for their production and it is located in the south, in their great-grandfather's hometown. You can read about it on the document."
Vegas read the document closely. It turned out that the founder of Phongsakorn was from the south and he was the first to build a large factory in the city. Even after his company grew rapidly, he refused to build factories elsewhere and dedicated his business to developing his hometown. Vegas knew that all Phongsakorn factories were not located in major industrial areas, but he just found out that the factory was in the south.
If the managerial and production departments were separated, then...
"Who is responsible for production?" Vegas asked.
Nop grinned, "Take a guess, boss."
The damn old man.
Vegas raised his eyebrows, leaning his back to his chair while trying to read the information once again. Handling the managerial of a whole Phongsakorn's holding was huge task but everyone knew that Phongsakorn's wealth laid largely in their factories. Strangely enough, the family leader was only responsible for the managerial part, while the ailing former family leader was responsible for the company's main assets.
The old man was rarely showed up in the public after stepping down as the family leader, leading him to think he already entrusted all his positions to Pete's father. But turned out, he still had a very important position in the family. No wonder he still had the authority to determine the next family leader.
"The damn old man still has privilege after all..." he muttered absentmindly, remembering what Pete's grandfather had said to him before, "Is Pete's grandfather's name on the company's official documents?"
"His name is on everything." Nop replied, "It's strange knowing he's no longer the leader of the family. Maybe they haven't changed it yet."
"It's been so many years, there's no way they haven't changed it." Vegas answered as he returned iPad to Nop. For the first time since he went back in time, Vegas wanted to rewind time to before the accident just to find out more about Pete's family.
