The week had been crazy. His father, somehow, got a list of investors and threatened them to withdraw their offer to his company.
What an asshole.
The final list of investors was supposed to be kept secret, only top management, above the directors knew. When he got word of the investors' withdrawal, he immediately called his IT unit to find the last person who opened the investors' documents.
By the end of the day, Vegas fired two directors.
The rest of the week he spent his days meeting with each investor and some potential investors to replace the withdrawal. He had to lower his head a little bit to convince them. After all, he'd rather beg them than his father. He knew for sure that what his father wanted the most, for him to beg him, but Vegas wouldn't give it to him.
He managed to keep some investors with him, the fearless who apparently hated his father's gut and decided to stay with him and released the cowards—yes that was he called the withdrawal— so that they would remain kissing his father's ass.
He needed a little help, as much as he hated it, he couldn't do it alone. He had to use the name Phongsakorn to make negotiations easier. He received permission, first from his own husband who even offered to come with him and then from the old Phongsakorn.
Vegas knew using a company name as big as Phongsakorn would have a big impact so he contacted the old man to make a bigger offer for his company. He was willing to sacrifice his company's profits if that was what he had to do in order not to lose other investors.
Maybe because of Pete, the old man kept the proposal the same. In other words, he let Vegas to use his company's name. For free. Without any objections.
It was something he couldn't even think about back in the day.
Nevertheless, he returned to the headquarters meeting room to meet his deadline with more than enough investors to buy headquarters shares in his company. He couldn't express his overwhelming feelings when Korn signed the official stock buyback papers and watched as his father stormed out of the room, full of anger.
He fucking won.
"Cheerss!!!" Tay yelled as loud as possible while raising his champagne glass high in the air. Everyone in the conference room yelled back and drank their drinks merrily. There was a loud, massive celebration in every corner of the hall. For tonight, they could do whatever they wanted.
Vegas came down from the podium with a light laugh, after finishing providing an update on the company's current position. Everyone had worked hard. He was very happy that their first townhall was not an announcement of the company going bankrupt like before, but an announcement that their company had succeeded in becoming independent.
Surely it was a big step up.
"Boss, here drink some more." Tay poured more drink into his glass, "You should celebrate more."
Vegas took a sip of his drink, "You can pour me more once my husband is here."
"Of course Pete should be here!" Tay laughed. Vegas had never seen him this happy before, "Aren't you going to the mountains tomorrow?"
Vegas nodded, "For your information, I'm going to turn off my phone."
"Promise, I won't bother you, boss!" Tay saluted him before slowly walking back then leaving him to talk to someone else.
Several employees approached him and talked to him for a while, mostly praising him. Vegas didn't know whether it was truly a compliment from the heart or not, but for now he would enjoy having his ego boosted a little. Besides, he was bored of waiting for Pete to arrive. He had left the office a few minutes ago, he would be here soon unless traffic caught him. They planned to have dinner as a celebration of Vegas' success and then stop by the supermarket to buy some necessities to take to the mountains tomorrow.
