He made a mistake, a big mistake.

He was too focused on himself, thinking he was so great that everything was about him. When his father was killed, he immediately thought of Korn, their arch enemy at the time without thinking about anyone else. In the end, their investigation stalled and they were unable to gather evidence to prove that his uncle was the murderer. But his conversation with Gin made him realize an important question he had to ask.

Why his house?

His father had no reason to go to his house. He had never been at his house in his life but then suddenly he appeared at his house. Vegas had lost his company, his status, and his position in the family succession. He was already a nobody even before his father's accident happened, it was impossible for his father to look for him.

His father was probably looking at someone else living in the house who kept going back and forth to the northern city where most of his family's assets were kept.

His father was looking for Pete.

For what, he still wasn't sure. But judging from the way the old man treated Pete's father, who was actually the leader of the family but was only given minimal responsibility, Vegas could already guess it.

Tawan might have been chosen as the family leader, but like his father, he only held the management assets while the rest fell to Pete. Pete hid the fact knowing that his brother and father would be angry and kept the information to himself until he could take care of everything.

But no matter how tightly a secret was kept, it would definitely be revealed eventually, especially a secret as big as this.

Knowing that his son-in-law had hit the jackpot was a good reason for his father to finally visit his house. He had never been close to Pete before and when Pete suddenly got most of Phongsakorn's assets, his father would definitely want to be closer to him.

His father was still greedy until the end.

If his assumption was correct, the murder of his father and himself had nothing to do with Theerapanyakun's succession, which meant these two events could still have occurred even though he had withdrawn from Theerapanyakun's line of succession. On the contrary, he seemed to have increased the chances of that happening by making Pete aware of his status in his family earlier than before.

So what should he do now? How could he investigate a murder that hadn't happened?

He sighed then closed the documents about Tawan and his father that Nop had investigated for him. He didn't want to read the documents about them at first but he accidentally opened it as he was trying to review the materials for the investor meeting that would be held in the afternoon.

To think he wouldn't be nervous about an investor meeting was an understatement. He didn't blink his eyes when the killer pulled the trigger to kill him, but this meeting somehow frightened him.

It seemed like just yesterday he destroyed the lives of hundreds of his employees because he was too late to act to save his company. He still remembered all the cynical glances, sarcasm, insults directed at him and the embarrassment of being the first Theerapanyakun to fail in something big.

He acted like he didn't care about his failure back then. One thing he was good at was hiding his true feelings but in reality the pain still haunted him. When he managed to go back in time, repairing his relationship with Pete and making him happy was his main goal, but apart from that, he was also trying to save his company. Pete and the people who have worked under him, he would not let them down again.

"Come in." he said absently after hearing a small knock on his office door. His eyes didn't leave the monitor as someone came into the room.

"Boss, the conference hall is ready for the final inspection."
