"He's suffering from a moderate somatic concussion," The doctor began, "He has a deep dermal burn on his back, which could be from carpet burn,"

"And what does that mean exactly?" A voice questioned.

"It means the epidermis which is the skin, and the dermis which is the layer of tissue underneath has been damaged,"

"Wouldn't he have noticed the burn?" The deep voice questioned.

"He might have initially, but some bad burns can be painless," The doctor answered, "I think with his life being threatened and his adrenaline, he might not have thought it was serious,"

"And the cut on his nose?"

"His nose was broken," The doctor answered, "It was just a linear fracture so we didn't have to correct the position of his nose but he will have a scar across his bridge from the surgery,"

"Anything else doctor?"

"His most serious injury is to his neck," The doctor explained, "The bruises to his neck are obvious, while Clover was in and out of consciousness, we noticed he had difficulty breathing and swallowing due to swelling,"

"How serious would you say his neck injuries are?"

"If I had to give you out of 10, I would say a 8 sir," The doctor replied, "His voice is barely audible, and he is suffering with bloodshot eyes, when he wakes up we need to run more tests,"

"I see," The man said, "Please allow me to look at the results once they're completed,"

The assortment of voices departed the room - Clover could hear them, every comment that was expressed was heard but he couldn't open his eyes. He wasn't sure he desired to. He was at tranquillity being like this, being able to sleep away the misery and not worry about what was happening outside. He felt soft fingers brush against his own. That was his only problem, his lovers had been sitting beside him for the last few days.

Come on, Clover thought, open your eyes.

"Come on baby," Yuki whispered, "We're right here for you,"

"Did you guys hear?" Elio's voice sounded, "They said if he doesn't wake up in the next few days, they're going to put him in a medically induced coma, something about protecting his brain,"

"I don't get it, why?" Finley questioned, his voice rough.

"Because his bastard cousin strangled him," Yuki replied angrily, "The lack of blood flow to his brain can cause serious damage, even weeks after strangulation, people die from the long-term effects of it,"

"Shit," Finley cursed.

"I know we all want to be here for when he wakes up," Elio stuttered quietly, "but let's head home today, for showers and food, we can come right back,"

There were a few murmurs of agreement, someone walking into a chair and then silence. Clover let out an internal sigh as he lay there, feeling the intense pressure building within him. He fought against the pain, willing himself to open his eyes despite the overwhelming agony. It was as if his head was on the verge of splitting open, but he refused to succumb to the torment, pushing himself to the limit.

He first opened his eyes to a brilliant white light - he didn't have much natural light in his room so the hospital lights seemed twice as luminous. Clover glanced around the room, it was barren, silent and lonesome. His body felt heavy, almost impossible to move but eventually, his hand was resting in the air. He peeked at it, moved his fingers and then looked at the gimmick coming out of his hand.
