Two years ago.

As Reece watched the group leave his gaze lingering on Marjorie until she was completely out of view, he inhaled deeply looking at his bite mark with unease.

He tried to wipe the blood away but it wouldn't stop.

There was only one thing he could do.

He reached for his gun and held it to his head for a few moments, he shut his eyes and thought about his sister.

His finger grazed the trigger before it was swatted from his hand, shooting the bullet up and through the air.

He didn't have time to react when he felt a force of something to his head.

When he woke up it was dark, he was laying down on something hard, he tried to sit up but failed.

He turned his head and tried to survey his surroundings, he blanched in horror when he realised he was in a large metal cage.

He tried to move once more but gasped in pain, his leg throbbed violently and he bit down hard on his tongue to try and stabilise himself.

Once the pain died down slowly he forcefully propped his elbows up trying to gain some sense of clarity.

Once he could see somewhat he look down to horror.

His leg left had been severed off just above the knee and he was secured to the floor by a large metal chain.

He gasped in horror as his throat filled with bile, he tried to move but failed miserably.

Just then the sound of a door swinging open made his head snap up, four men in lab coats entered the room, followed by a man in protective gear.

The light emitting from the other side lit up the room, he looked around dazed, once his vision returned some what he paled.

He was in a lab, there were vials of things everywhere, a few empty cages where kept on the other-side of the wall and his eyes landed on one that was occupied.

A zombie was hooked to chains, growling wildly and thrashing its body against the ground.

Reece cringed internally, trying to remain calm as he averted his eyes.

"Oh good you're awake, how are you feeling?" One of the lab coats asked, he was a few feet from the cage, apprehensive.

"How am I feeling." Reece drawled furiously, "What is this."

The man clapped his hands together as he approached slowly, "Welcome subject zero to my untitled project."

Reece thrashed against his chains, "Let me go." He demanded.

The man stepped back, "Oh zero, demands like that won't get you far Im afraid."

Reece felt hot rage pound through him, he spat through the bars and watched as the men simply smiled, as if it were entertaining.

"I think you're going to be very useful to me." Lab coat sneered as he started to write things down on a clipboard.

Reece became very aware of the danger he was now in.

"You'll be happy to know that I amputated your leg just in time, it's never been done before, you're clean."

Reece froze, "What." He faintly gasped.

"You're not infected, which means you're now very important to me."

Reece coward back slightly, he couldn't believe what he was hearing.

Perhaps he was in hell, maybe this was the infection. He was being tortured.

He believed if there were an afterlife he would definitely not make it to heaven, all the lives he took, all the damaged he'd caused, all the things he did to protect his family.

"No, no, this isn't real, this isn't real." Reece whispered as he tried to escape.

The man approached once more, "Oh but it is very real."

Current day.

Charlotte shook faintly as she hesitantly took a few steps forward.

She was surely dreaming, or perhaps her brain had shut down completely.

Reece was leaning against crutches, what was remaining of his leg was wrapped up securely. He was deathly pale, almost sea-through and his eyes were dark yet alert. He'd lost a considerable amount of weight and it made his face features sharp and unsettling.

"Reece?" Charlotte barely whispered.

"Oh Char, I can't even describe how good it feels to see you standing in front of me." He gasped.

Charlotte bolted towards him, even if she were dreaming she wanted to savour it.

She wrapped her arms around him, gasping frantically.

"But how? How?" She sobbed.

He inhaled shakily, trying to steady himself.

"It's a long story." He whispered.

She stepped back still in complete and utter shock trying to determine if this was truly happening.

"I don't understand." Charlotte cried as she wiped her tears.

"I'll explain everything, where's Aut, where's my baby sister." He said frantically as he moved his head to try and look inside.

"Autumn!" Charlotte called.

A few moments later Autumn was at the door.

Charlotte turned to watch.

Autumn froze, her hand moving to her mouth as she stood with wide eyes.

"Oh Aut." Reece whispered as he started to cry.

She stood for a few minutes trying to comprehend.

"Reece?" She sobbed as she ran towards him, she practically flew into him, the force knocking him slightly as he grabbed hold of her.

"How, how." Autumn was whispering as she clung onto him, sobbing so violently she thought she was going to pass out.

"Shh, everything's fine, I'm here now." He assured gently as he stroked her hair.

"I thought you were dead." She cried harder.

Reece smiled into her hair albeit his pain, "And get rid of me that easily, I don't think so."

Charlotte was still crying.

"Where's Marjorie, I need to see her." He said gently.

Charlotte felt her heart drop.
